While I have been patiently awaiting the arrival of my AL:)eek: should be any day now:eek: ), I was afforded a chance to check out a Morse model. My friend was kind enough to let his beloved Morse stay with me for a few days while he moved into his new home.

First off, it is the original model not the Y2D.

Dammitt, this guitar is awesome, such a comfortable instrument in all aspects. And that neck is just amazing.

I really enjoyed toying with the ridiculous pickup configuration possibilities and played this thing endlessly. It was singing through my 5150 1/2 stack. My 93 EBMM EVH was getting jealous.

My soon-to-be-here AL hasn't even been christened by me yet and I'm already toying with the idea of ordering a Morse.

Now, what to tell the wife........

I never thought I could replace my EVH, until I bought an original Morse. Now I've just bought another Morse (Y2D) the neck and everything about them just suits me to a tee, they are the best

Don't tell me that, adding the Y2D into the mix just makes it worse. Especially a flamed De-Purple Burst Y2D w/Floyd............... :D

Don't buy one with a Floyd. If you can get to a Steve Morse clinic and watch what he does with the tone knob you'll understand. The Floyd just gets in the way. If it's a Y2D or and original you won't be disappointed.

I've seen plenty of vid of Steve Morse and his amazing tone know technique but a trem has become an integral part of my playing so....... I will play both

I haven't played a single EBMM that I didn't like, neck feel-wise. I have played an original morse and loved it with the exception of the floyd rose. If your in a band, I don't think you can go wrong with a Morse because it covers so much ground. That's hard to say too, because, and let's all be honest, a good guitarist can dial in his/her sound pretty much with any guitar they play (obviously with subtle differences and depending on who you ask). With the Morse, I could hear all of the differences and that's because as a guitarist, I suck (but I have a hell of an ear, though).
