of Markbass at Bass Player Live! earlier today.

Nice guy - we chatted about the success they're having with the initial line available in the US. And we talked about the delivery to Jack (well, to Sterling actually) in preparation for next week. Told him I was so excited to hear Markbass in action and was looking forward to next week's activities.

There was plenty of booth interest - I personally did not plug-in myself, being content to listen to others wank-away. Great, solid tone.

He had an SR4 and a 2006 Ltd. Singray in the booth - said the marriage between MarkBass and EBMM basses was perfect! :)

Sounds like I really need to check this stuff out. If they make lighter weight gear that is a definite plus. Many years of lugging around heavy equipment has not done my back any favors!

Ray and I spent Saturday night and into Sunday morning here playing basses and listening to the MarkBass rig.

The stuff just rocks - and it's light! Going from a 1200 watt head (with tube pre) into a fuzzy Ampeg 4-10, I thought I'd be giving up a fair amount of tone when switching to a 500 watt (no tube) into a 2-10 and 1-15. The tone is different, of course, but definitely not inferior.

And the MarkBass head into that Ampeg cabinet just KILLED.

Of course, the Ampeg cabinet weighs more than both the Mark cabinets together.

If I had the money, I'd switch in a heartbeat. I can't wait for you guys to hear this rig. Marco, I believe, is going to have a rather large group of converts.

He's already got me and Ray!

My local GC (Towson, MD) just received their first shipment of MarkBass gear. There was a huddle around the new equipment as we saw how loud it would go. And at very high levels, it was still very clean. I'm told that the TA501 head with the tube compressor is incredibly good. Unfortunately, that sold within a few hours of arrival.

Thanks for the ampeg/ Markbass checkout there Jack. Atleast I won't have to buy cabs and amp all at once. :)

Of course there will be a 10 year wait in Kansas for a Markbass head dang it.

It's just a matter of time... Seems the initial products available via GC have been very well received and are selling well.

Looking forward to the full line being available! :)

I met Marco too

I was able to attend the Bass Player Live event in NYC and I got to hang with Marco and crew on Saturday. We went to the Stanley Clarke Hall Of Fame induction that night and had a great time. BTW What a concert!
Marco gave me a sneak preview of the new stuff he's going to show at winter NAMM.
