I hardly ever listened to Dream Theater - the few times I did, I really wasn't wild about them although I was a huge fan of progressive rock.

Late last year I bought my JP6, not because I am a JP fan, but because the guitar spoke to me.

Since I started getting Dream Theater cd's from the library and find I can't get enough of it . The Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is killer, every time I pull it out of the CD player, it goes right back in!!!!

I have been enlightened!

My world is pretty small. I haven’t expanded my musical genres like I should have.

I didn’t know who JP was till about 2005. When I got an iTunes gift card last Xmas, I bought a whack of DT. Love it!

Yeah, I found them around last Thanksgiving. I only had one song of theirs on my PC beforehand, The Test That Stumped Them All, which isn't my favorite song. Then I got the November Guitar World mag. which had A Rite Of Passage. Decided I'd give them another shot and now I'm hooked.

All of their albums are excellent. I listen to every one over and over again depending on what style kick i am on. By far i think i listen to their recent works more because of their epic nature. But sometimes their classic deep lyrics from Awake, SFAM, and Images and Words just beckon to be listened to.

JP is the reason i am where i am today. Listening to his style and musicianship inspired me to start really pursuing a career in music.

Love DT, been my favorite band since I started playing guitar, and JP is my favorite guitarist. His guitar is just perfect too, which is why I decided to get one haha. But yeah, Six Degrees is my favorite album of theirs.

First time I heard Pull Me Under I was hooked. The fact that James is a good ole Canadian boy didn't hurt either. I had known about James' former bands so when I found out he was in Dream Theater, I had to look into them. Haven't looked back.

Dream Theater is a great band. I have been listening to them since 1992 when Pull Me Under was first played on the radio. I'll be seeing them for the 11th time (I think) in a few weeks when they open for Maiden.

As much as I love all DT records, Images & Words is one of the greatest moments in music history.

I heard "The Mirror" on the radio in the mid-'90's, bought the CD ("Awake"), saw them live a little while later (what turned out to be the "Scenes From A Memory" tour, though I didn't know the album at the time). I was hooked. Still am.

my first contact with DT was back in 1993, my guitar-teacher played Pull Me Under with his TOP40 band...a few days after their show, i bought I&W.
but to me, the best DT album is SFAM - i love those conceptalbums, just like Genesis Lamb lies down, Marillions Misplaced Childhood and so on...

at the moment i hear the BC&SL very often, followed by TOT - two incredible albums....6DOIT is also great.

if you haven´t seen DT yet, buy a ticket and go to their show!!! sad that they don´t do the "an evening with DT" thing anymore.
i´ve met them (especially JP) a few times before but with the new album, i got a "Silver Ticket" to meet the band after the show - it was awesome....

I first heard The Root of All Evil - hated it, lol.
I guess I wasn't ready or mature enough for DT back then.

That was 2 years ago. Right now I can't get enough of them. I love The Root of All Evil, even if it's not my top favorite. I also know a ton of their songs on the guitar aswell as playing Erotomania with my band.

In The Presence of Enemies Pt1 & Pt2
The Ministry of Lost Souls
Song 1 in SFAM(Overture 1928 + Strange Deja Vu + Through My Words + Fatal Tragedy)

But really, most of their songs are awesome. You get damaged though, everytime I hear new songs from other bands I compare it with DT and I'm like.. "omg, this song isn't that good.. it doesn't even have strange rythm changes nor weird metal chords and licks.. Hmpf"

There should be a DT genre ^_^

You HAVE to see them live, i had the pleasure to see them at the Chicago Theater last august 23erd i traveled almost 2,000 miles just to live the experience and to be honest i felt that I reborn lol... seriously is an amazing experience, like joe web said, buy a ticket and go to their show. You’ll never regret it.

I remember hearing Pull Me Under and Take the Time as a freshman in college. I knew right then I liked the band. That summer they played a very small show at an amusement park in Rhode Island - the local radio station broadcast the show and I taped it on a cassette, which I still have somewhere.

I've seen the band several times, but I think my favorite was a club gig where Dixie Dregs opened for DT. Talk about some killer musicianship that night! It was general admission so I was able to get to about 10-15 feet from Steve Morse and then JP.

Also had the chance to meet JP during a day-of-the-show appearance at a music store while he was in D.C. for one of his G3 dates. He was so down-to-earth and accommodating for his fans... to me, that made him even cooler in my eyes.

Favorite albums? SFAM, to be sure... and I also like just about all of Systematic Chaos. Plus, ya gotta love the "B-side" of A Change of Seasons with the cover songs.
