I need a wiring diagram for a 91 stingray w/ 3 band eq. The preamp is crescent shaped and loaded through the front of the bass. I saw the diagram on the .org site and it doesn't show the leads to the jack. Also I would be so appreciative if someone could describe the path the wires take inside the compartment. What I mean is, for example does the black wire from the battery go to the jack via under the circuit board or above (through the space between circuit and cover plate. Any detail will go to good use here. I've got important gigs and rehersals this week and I have no back-up. Besides I don't like any other bass. Thanks, -Mark.

Below is how I started writing this post. Then I realized I was not getting to the point and y'all might not have time to listen to me bitch. So I'd say the next section is "optional".

I am the original owner of a '91 Stingray w/ B eq. I love this Bass but it seems like it's been shorting out ever since I got it. Granted- I'm pretty hard on it. The original Jack has been replaced with what I think is a standard stereo jack. I tried to find one like the original but I think they are unique. I've had to repair the jack and preamp many times and often in a panic just before or even on the gig. My point is I may have got a little sloppy and I don't even claim to know what I'm doing. A couple weeks ago I broke down and took it to a "professional" thinking, I'm going to get this thing done right once and for all. After picking it up and shelling out $70 I believed my fellow musicians would never again have the occasion to yell at me "get that thing fixed". Well I pull up to this gig in La, I've never even met these guys and I'm running late. But at least my bass works right?---WRONG! So I'm back to Pounding on it with my fists (this usually works for half a set) ---Anyway you get the point: it's embarrassing! The repair shop just jury- rigged like I have been doing for years. Only, my sloppy work holds up better than theirs. This is turning out to be a rant. Sorry. I'm Just so frustrated.

low4driver... you are located in San Diego, and it doesn't even appear to you to take it down to SLO, to have it restored with original parts? Hm. I wish that EB was that close to where I live...

Well, ok, so my advice would be: Try to locate the nearest EB Customer Service and get it fixed there.

oli@bass, Thanks for responding. San Luis Obispo is 350 miles north of San Diego. That's about a 5 1/2 hour drive one way and I'm short on cash. I have an important rehersal in 8 hours. I'm trying to soder this bitch right now. Got Diagram?

Mark has your basses p[reamp and jack been shorting out since 1991?

This is pretty simple stuff that we can help you with. It is also very rare that this happens and usually it is when a "doctor"continues to operate opn himself!

Ok, Mark, sorry, I wasn't really helpful for your sitation -- I don't have a diagram. But I'll try to help by googling around and to find the info you need.

But for the future: Please get it properly fixed by EB. If your job depends upon it, it is money well spent, after all!

Yea, I went through an expermentation stage where I tried several bartollinis before I realizing that the stock pickups are the best. But by then my guts had bean ravaged (by Knuckleheads). I haven't been able to get the preamp to sit comfortably in the cavity since then. And I'm sure that jack withstood my abuse admirably for 6 months or more. I'll contact customer service Poppa. Thanks for responding.-Mark

Oli, Thanks for the diagram. It shows both red and black batt leads going to the jack where as this bass has the red sodered straight to the curcuit board. Also I have three leads and a ground to the jack but instead of white, black, red, I've got green, white, black. I'm going to study it more and see if it makes sence. Thanks again.-Mark

That means the battery is not disconnected from the preamp when the jack is removed from the socket. Therefore the batteries may have a very short lifespan. Less than a month, I'd guess!

Green could be the same as red. Are red and green connected somewhere?
