OK, not necessarily what you would request in most instances, given what we're talking about here...but feedback of a different nature is what I speak of.

Here's the deal: I want to know what you think could make this board better for "old" and new folks alike. I've a few things in mind, such as expanding/updating the serial database that good 'ol norm created a while back, as a guide to "place" where an EVH/Axis, etc. is in its order of birth. I've also thought about adding a FAQ particular to the more common questions, ie. how do i maintain my neck, adjust this/that, and so on, and a few other things (including your ideas) if the technical capabilities are there. If there's anything that you can think of, I'm open, and your feedback and input is welcome at any time. Consider this my virtual "open door" policy; I'm always accessible via the handy dandy little "email" button at the bottom of my posts, so fire away! :)

Also, I've a webpage with a non-technical breakdown of my gear in place that I'd like to share, so you can see what I'm running through, and so on. I put it together for a vocalist that I was trying out a while back (which is the reason for the "non-tech" descriptions), and haven't updated it yet. It's on the "to-do" list over the next few weeks, with actual images of my gear replacing those yanked off the Internet (including my Sil Special, my Sennheiser wireless, and a whole keyboard setup to add!). Click my "www" button to take a peek!

So, email me with ideas, check out my gear, and let's see where we can go from there! :)

I see that there are questions on the DOB for guitars. How about a search that will give the information about their guitar if possible. The Tom Anderson site does this and is real handy especially when dealing with e-bay and other sellers. Just punch in the serial number and you will see info on the guitar to include color, etc. If possible, that would be a nice feature instead of asking one of you guys and having to wait for an answer. Not that I mind waiting...it's always nice to chat with you guys.:)

The database FAQ seems to indicate that image files will be visible in the forum, If a link is provided using

[/img]

is this option deactivated?

I think that these are all great ideas. I've referred folks countless times to the Ernie Ball FAQs. You could just post a sticky with a link to the FAQs.

The serial number database would be cool, and would avoid all the DOB posts.

I have wished for the capability as well, to post the images directly into the posts. Actually, I would think that this would decrease the server space for the forum, as the images would be stored on other servers.

A central repository for pics would be great as well. I know one was started, but after it gets pushed down the list of posts, folks forget about it.

One other thing that I have mentioned in the past. It would be cool to have a pictorial history of Music Man guitars, with maybe some pictures of the factory.

I too have wished that the in-line image facility was active in this forum so we could include images hosted elsewhere in our messages; I've never mentioned it before, because the web guys that run these things usually defeat options for a reason, but since the point's been raised, maybe someone will look into it. The idea of a growing/evolving "EB/MM Guitar" FAQ is also one I'd like to see happen, and a more comprehensive serial # registry could be cool too... This forum is still quite small in terms of traffic, however, and I'd rather see us grow slowly and naturally as the number of members continues to increase than try and implement a whole lot of options and features that we do not yet have the numbers to support. I guess what I mean is that I'd rather see us stay simple, with good posting activity and friendly advice where it counts, than add too many features too quickly and have them fall into disuse due to a lack of support in the long run.
