Hey everyone i have a Traynor YCS custom 100 head and not really into the tone of it now , to my ears it sounds a little harsh and not real warm to me. right now it has for the preamp tubes Sovtek 12AX7WA and for the power it has Electro Harmonix EL34. does anyone know if i switch the tubes out i could get a warmer sound less harsh.
I just don't know much about tubes for amps and figured maybe someone here would any help much appreciated.thanks

sure thing, could make a world of difference, I like Tung-Sol's in my Rockerverb 50, it really took the grain out of the stock tubes, gave it more of a vintage vibe, but the JJ 6V6 power tubes gave it the punch back where it was needed..always fun to experiment, and relatively safe if you're just playing around with pre-amp tube configurations. let your ears be your guide.

Check out doug's tubes online I emailed him about replacing the tubes in my mark III to warm up the tone and after a little discussion and an order based on his suggestions I am one happy camper. and they go the extra mile to send you the best tubes possible. Plus EXTREMELY fast shipping

right now you have what is considered very warm sounding tubes. Keep the 12AX7 Sovtek and maybe throw in a Svetlana EL34 in the power section.

Talk to Tommy Alderson from this very forum, he is a genius when it comes to tubes. He's also Steve Morse's guitar tech and a heck of a nice guy
