Okay, so I'm auditioning to play for Ricky Skagg's band when they come through Berklee.. but I'm not a big listener to that style of music.. but I do know that I LOVE Albert Lee's Country Boy.. so I'm going to perform that and maybe one other bluegrass standard. Which one should I play?

I'm going to be doing this on my JP.. :D

Just curious, but why would you want to audition for a band whom's style of music isn't one of your main, uh, tastes? Variety? New experience? Just curious :)

Well, even if I don't get the gig, it doesn't matter much.. I learned some new things and broadened my horizons! :)

I'm just all about experiencing new things, and I think one of the most important things is the journey there.

Ah, that was my first guess, seeing as you're a Berklee student! My school band is taking a tour of your campus/school/DT-Spawning ground when we travel there (Boston) this May! I won't be going though, because I have a skills comp. I'd love to see it :(

New things are a necessity! :) Good luck!

That's too bad that you won't be coming, man! Boston is a great place.

Thanks bro. :)

Man, this stuff is certainly hard, but definitely do-able.

I highly suggest any of the players on here that haven't given this style of music a chance to please learn it. Man, it's such a great workout, and it's so much fun to play! I've never been challenged by something as fun as this Country Boy song. :)

No ideas from the ALOC? I know I'm not playing on an AL, but I sure would like to be!

(It may be time to set up a Get Word Strickland an Albert Lee fund)

LOL!! That too! Hahahaha!

Y'know.. I've been successfully getting some spanky tones out of my JP..

We do Independence Day in the college ensemble pop group I'm in... Never had any problem getting the tone right out of my JP. Both the EB and the Ibanez are more than versatile enough to get good country stuff happening.
