I once filled in for John Petrucci on a Dream Theater tour, and we played "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Sweet Child of Mine" covers.....John and I had had a good laugh about that one....then I woke up and had to fix breakfast for the kids.

Ok, where were we at ?

Yes!! The Eddie Van Halen sig guitar that EDDIE HIMSELF Played ! 11 ! WOW !! :)

... so, this is like 1998 and I see this ad in the local paper :) It said EBMM EVH guitar for sale. Amber quilt, excellent condition, $1,250.00

I called and some lady answered. I asked about the guitar and she told me she was the owner and how nice the guitar was, and that she didn't even play, but she was a huge fan of Van Halen that she had to have it. ..... then she went on to say that she hung out with the band and she told Eddie that she ordered it, and he asked her to bring it to the next show to show him when she got it.

I was going to ask if Elvis was there  ..... but I was nice and just listened.

She got it and took it to a show. Before the show Eddie grabbed the guitar and was noodling around on it for about 20 minutes. :)

I say OK OK ..... where do you live?, I want to come and look at it

I showed up, she un buttoned the case. I opened it up, the clouds parted and a beam of sunlight shown down on the guitar. A host of Angels fluttered around the window and sang DOA

I tried not to drool or act over interested. It played like a dream ! !11!! I was so excited! This thing was worth about $2500 at the time !! I whipped the $1250 out of my pocket and tried to pay the lady, but she said no!

I said WHAT? She said some dealer called after she talked to me and begged her if she would hold it for him. She said yes.

My jaw dropped and I said ..... but .....but ....butbutbut ..... and she told me she gave him her word.

She tried to call the guy back, but he didn't answer. :)

Any way, I finally talked her into selling it to me, ...... I mean I was there NOW with the cash, and who knows if he would even show up?

THEN she said OH! you have to look at these pictures! She whipped out a photo album and showed me pictures with her and Eddie and Sammy, Her and Mike, Her daughter and her with Eddie. Sammy hanging out of a Limo window and some others.

HOLY CRAP !! She wasn't kidding !! .... she actually was on the inside circle of the band! She gave me a couple crappier photos to take with the guitar.

A year later, she called and invited me to a party. I showed up and she had a case of Tequila from Sammy with a hand written note from him. :)

That was a wild thing.

ok, big whoop !! I wish I still had it. I finally sold the guitar to some guy on the internet who was a collector. I'll try and post a few pics.

He's from TGP -
He doesn't KEEP gear! :D
What's up Bucket?

Hey Dougie!

I was jammin on the Mesa last night.....I think I'll be keepin that for a little while :)

To everyone else, if I were going to MAKE up a story, here would be the changes:

1. The guitar I bought was one of Eddie's stage guitars

2. The chick that sold it to me would have been converted to my HOT lover sex slave from that day on. :)

3. She would get me into Van Halen concerts for free and I could play a song or two with them at sound check.

4. I would have have been given a few guitar parts on Van Halen's next album.

5. Instead of Gary Cherone jumping in wrecking the band, I would have been asked to join as the front man and Van Halen would have become the NEW Beatles ! !11! !!

6. I would have meet the CEO of Ernie Ball while inspecting the EVH guitars one day, had a few drinks and ended up managing the company. Wolfbucket or 5150 would have NEVER happened, and Eddie would still have great tone playing out of Marshall Plexis.

...... that's if I wanted to make something up.
