...it was really nice, beautiful in the Surf Green, however, it had the standard EB Stingray neck. I thought they came with the old school neck profile and radius, plus the varnish. Is that an option?

I am interested too, where these new Classic Series are popping up. I'm going to check my local GC's this weekend.

GC has a run of some satin finished neck classics that are a little less money than the finished version.
Get them while you can...

I work at the GC in Phoenix and we just got in 3 different color options on the basses...simply awesome. I also have limited access to the laquered neck version as well. Lemme know if anyone wants to pick one up cause I can get any different variation of the basses.

If it did not have a 7.5" Radius it was NOT a Classic...

Peace,

T
This bass was Surf Green, slab body, string through, 3 band, with metal battery cover, but the neck was satin and not 7.5. It was at my local GC. If the neck was classic profile and varnished there is a good chance that I would be about $1600 lighter.

3 Band? The Classics are 2 Band...

I played one identical the other day and it reminded me why I fell in love with the SR. I'm trying to be patient and wait for the 5'ers to start popping up.

Just got the new GC flyer yesterday.

They're advertising 2 versions of the Classic 4.

As Glen mentioned above.

Classic - the current Stingray neck (11" radius, wax\gun oil). GC exclusive.
Classic Deluxe - the Classic series neck (7.5", lacquered, birdseye\flamed), as introduced at NAMM.

Both have the Classic features, 2 band EQ, string through body, string mutes, metal battery cover and unique finishes.

Also, as Glen mentioned above, what GC is calling the Classic, is less $ then what they're calling the Classic Deluxe.

Don't shoot me. I'm just the messenger. Grab a copy of the latest GC flyer with Slash on the cover and see for yourself.

I, too, am waiting for either version of these to show up in 5! :)

... but that ain't classic then, isn't it?

They can call it the Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator for all I care! So long as it shows up with an alnico H, 2 band EQ, oval pickguard, 5 strings and in vintage white or powder blue finish! ;)

Yup, I just got the GC mailer too. Classic Standard, and Classic Deluxe.

Hmmm, no mention of the Classic SR5 or Sterling tho....

I had my guy at GC looking for these in the system and trying to find ordering info today and he found several different versions but there were none in the system yet. Can anyone tell me what he would look for to order me one or 2 of these beauties in an SR5?

Peace,

T

Over the weekend I went to a couple stores hoping to see one of them...any of them. None.
Bare in mind, I still haven't seen a Big Al or 25th in a store here either.

You'll probably see the SR5 Classics hit stores in May. GC has a few of the Deluxe 4 string models in stock:

1) Mint Green--Birdseye Maple. Ask for build code 120-82-13-W2
2) Black--Flame Maple. Ask for 120-01-14-02
