Hey Guys,

I have been a passive reader for some time now but I need your advise so it was time to finally make my first post.

Here's the deal: Tomorrow will be my 21st birthday and since this means I'm becomming an adult, it's time to act as one and get another ball.

Retail prices here in Holland are sick! (in the bad way). I work in a music store and even with my maximum discount I can't beat the US prices. But I have some relatives over in Vancouver willing to ship me a guitar by NATO mail (the military one without customs and stuff  ). I contacted several music shops for a BFR JP7 quilt (tobacco).

*Removed the question about the price*

And the other: I already have a JP6 LE07 so I need a colour that is just as flashy as Blue Dawn. Of all the BFR colours Tobacco seems to be more lively. If you scroll down at the bass central site really fast...the Tobacco colour is the one that pops out the most (of all BFR colours). But I'm also digging BBB, Amethyst and Emerald. (BBB less since I already have a blue guitar). Anybody have some hands on experience with these colours? And what to choose: quilt or flame? Adam (musicmanJP6) stated it really nice: Some quilts are awesome and some aren't. Flames are always nice (but not as nice as an awesome quilt). Perhaps I could look at BP with puppy-eyes and ask him if he will select a nice piece of wood for my birthday

So: Harass me with options, Assault me with pictures, Whatever!!! I don't care!!! I'm desparate for a ball!!!:D (ahh those good old GAS attacks!)

P.s I tried to start a new thread but something went wrong (sorry...Noob here:p) so if there is a thread out there with kind of the same text...delete it :p
oww and if you like...since I didn't put up some pictures of my JP6 LE now is the right time to do so...give me a couple of days. (pictures are always good for the vault)

Thanks in advance guys!

Greetz,

Bassey

No pictures but movies with the LE07 :p

The first one is with 30 seconds to mars (yeah I know...don't ask... it's not my favourite band either). A friend of mine came across a guitar contest for a national radio station. The winner was allowed to play onstage with 30SFM in the sold out Heineken Music Hall (5,500 people). After a couple of beers I said "what the heck" and I made my version of the song. And what started as a joke became reality :p It was a real cool experience unfortunately one of the guitarists was afraid that I would steal the show so I had to play chords instead of the solo I had in mind (and the one I played on national radio)

This is the solo I was talking about, and the one that won the contest. I usually hate youtube movies of guys trying to play guitar in their bedroom with bad movie quality and a ****ty direct guitar sound and this is no exception :p but hey...it won so you won't hear me complain :D

Oww and the good stuff is on my bands myspace. Check out "The discovery" which has some cool footage of the MM.

Bye!!!

Hey Bassey.

I don't even have one ball yet (I'm waiting on my first), so I'm going to let the experts here answer, but nice job on that lead. Sounds great!

Today, another forumite who lives in my town was gracious enough to let me come over to his place land let me play his EBMMs. First time I'd played a silo, and man...I know what I'm getting next!!!!

Man, you got some skillz. That's pretty lame, though, that you weren't allowed to unload on the unsuspecting crowd.

The audio quality in that vid was pretty good! Especially for a direct record.

Yeah it took quite some eq'ing to make it sound reasonable.

But to get back on topic :p :

Anybody have some pictures of an Emerald, Amethyst or Tobacco BFR? There aren't a lot out there so some help is appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Hey Bassey,

That's quite a coincidence, I live in Heerlen, so only a few miles from you!

I bought my Balls in Germany and England, but I know Reynen in Roermond, Kees Dee in Amersfoort and Dijkman in Amsterdam offer quite a few EBMMs. Where did you buy that LE Pet?

Hey Luc,

I bought it at Walkers Musical Supplies in brunssum. I work there on saturdays so if you need anything you don't have to travel that far ;)

The guy in brunssum talks a lot so you might need to take a day off :p He really knows a lot of the business and even more about the technical aspects of it. If you ever need a repair...this is the place to go.

About Reynen, Germany and all the other shops... They are never cheaper (well sometimes they are...but not much) than in brunssum but I always know that when I have a problem I can go there and get it fixed.

The reason I am buying a BFR via Canada is that my family can send it to AFNORTH so no customs and stuff. Plus Brent Moss at The Guitar Shop gave me a real nice deal on a BFR Pet 7. He seems like a real nice guy and a fair businessman. I'm getting all things sorted out with my relatives and I'm going to order at the end of this week.

Need to decide on a color so help me with pictures guys! What's the flashiest BFR color?

Hi Bassey!
Have a look at Dargin's sticky Official BFR Pictures Thread.
You'll find every BFR colour in there.
cheers

Hey Mikey,

Thanks for the tip, but I find that the official Ernie Ball pics differ from reality. So I wanted to know how all forumites think about the real thing. The JP BFR pictures thread is quite nice, but doesn't have a lot of pictures of the "newer" colors like emerald and amethyst.

I realize that it is hard to capture a finish since you really have to see it in person. A great example is Bahama Blue Burst. It has quite a lot of different shades. But I want something different since I already have a Blue Dawn (2 axes in blue is nice though, but I like a bit of diversity). Or aren't they that related? anybody any experience?

Ahh the choices...digging Blackburst as well
