My Starry Night Short Scale comes in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces. It's the best bass I ever owned, and that's a long list of pretty excellent instruments.

Dang! I got an exceptional deal on an SBMM shorty about a month ago to try them out. From my research, I got a good one (seems many have QC issues...), but it weighs 8.2 lbs. I've read where they can range from 7 to 9 lbs. (the SBMM version), so mines in the middle. I do wish it was lighter, but all thing considered, it's a keeper.
It sounds and plays good, and I really like the passive control layout, but it also definitely sounds different from a 34" scale.
I'm not sold on it enough at this point to spring for a full on EBMM, as tempting as that would be.
Of course, that may change down the road...
