Just got a nice 78 B008061 but the pickup looks "too new" on the bottom.
How can I tell if the pickup is original?
Might it be an after market replica?

Can I assume the suspect to be a later non orig pu if it's got an orange wire?

Just noticed the new page added to the site..
It shows an original pu with green/yellow wires.
My pickup does have an orange wire and its bottom looks brand new, unlike the one in the picture.

I guess it's not the original pu...

That's good to know.

Do they both share the same coil wire type, magnets, bubin, sealer and winding tension?

or in short.... are they identical in construction material/process?

I've previously done a resistance check (not impedance as yet). My Pre-EB parallel output is 1.8K Ohms. I've checked only one EB...2K ohms. That could be tolerance difference. I any event, I don't believe that makes a difference. I tried the EB PUP with a Pre-EB pre-amp. No difference sound-wise. I've gone as far as marrying my 1989 with a Pre-EB amp. Not a prob :D

>>>are they identical in construction material/process?

As far as I can tell at this stage, they're basically the same.
