Hi folks,

I'm the process of buying Todd4ta's 30th anniversary Stingray and cannot wait to get my grubby little hands on it.

As a matter of fact, I'm so caught up in Stingray fever (a mutated form of GAS) that I've put my Bongo 5 and Gretsch White Falcon on the 'bay to pay for a fretless Stingray too.

I've read BP (and quite a few others) saying that the 30th Anni Stingray is the best Stingray EBMM has ever made. Does this hold true for the fretless version too?

Would I be better off with a fretless 30th anniversary model (Beaver has one for sale), or buying something like a HH or HS fretless Stingray?

Cheers

Andy

I can't see why it wouldn't be. I've got a mighty nice fretless Stingray, but a fretless 30th would be killer, based on my fretted 30th.

Hey Scott,

Yep, I know. Beaver has a used/2nd hand unlined fretless for sale as well as a couple of unused models..... that's why I edited/amended my first post to specifically state that the bass I was interested in was used.

Pretty exy price though!

Cheers

I've got a 30th fretless that sounds wonderful. I've got no other Musicman to compare it to but it sounds great to my ears......Put it this way, my Alembic is for sale.

Either there is an echo in here or you have been playing a lot of double bass lately:D

the 30th fretless is different from other rays.
If you want something like jaco, get an HS.
If you want something totally different go 30th.

Hi PocketGroove,

Nah, not after a Jaco sound, more Pino Palladino from the Paul Young era or the dude from Sade (again - 80s era)...

My beautiful girlfriend is also a talented vocalist and does a lot of gospel/blues/ Eva Cassidy/soul stuff which just crys out for a fretless behind it.

Do you think a 30th anni fretless would be the bass?

Cheers
