Last year brought a lot of changes for me and I haven't been able to play with my balls in like, oh, almost a year. Sucks.
You forget some things in that time frame, like how to play to a certain degree.
You also forget not all floating trems are Floyds, so in restringing my JP7 the other day I clipped the ball end off of a string. DOH! *idiot idiot idiot!*
Fine guitars (like fine cars) stay in much better shape if you use them. If you don't use them, they succumb to entropy. I've been afraid to loosen the string tension because of the bridge so they've stayed under tension which was probably a bad idea. Now they both need some frett work that I am not capable of. Fortunately there is an old guy in the area who does PHENOMENAL frett work for like $50 (whole frett job plus setup). Problem is he lives like an hour away. I'll see if my buddy who owns a music store in town can hook me up. If not, there goes next Saturday which is also my daughter's 2nd birthday.
So, what's the best way to loosen tension on the neck and not flip the bridge out?
Anyway, moral of the story is if you don't play with your balls on a regular basis you will have some serious curvature and stiffness problems to rectify when you finally get back around to it.
Sad that a guy has to make a conscious effort to play with his balls
