Ok...if you HAD to choose between a Y2D non-trem OR a 25th Anni (Trem model)...which would you choose ???

Music played...ballads to classic rock to 80's rock to progressive ! :D:D
Please don't suggest other MM models, thanks

Well ???

Thanks for the feedback:)

Hey, u talkin to me? NY
Are you going for your second 25th? Your sig shows that you have one already. If that's the case, go for the Y2D if not the 25th is the one to go for. Limited run, more comfortable to play, the best pickups for rock and 80's metal out there, best sounding wood combo - basswood with maple top and maple neck.

Yep, 25th or Reflex 1st then a Y2D.

I have the 25th - simply awesome, Y2D is way high on the list for my next Ball. I just need to decide b/w tobaccoburst or purple sunset.

oooooohhhh.....choices!

Hmm, I would go for the Y2D. It's neck pickup is further away from the bridge due to only 22 and not 24 frets on the Y2D which gives the pickup a very warm and vocal tone. Also the SM has the additional single coil which adds some versatility.. Just my two cents.. ;) Both guitars look simply gorgeous!! :)

Both guitars are 22 fret.

I have both guitars and both are in the top 3 or 4 of all my guitars. Personally I prefer the Y2D slightly, but you can't go wrong with either.

If you have the 25th try the Y2D unless you have the deal on the 25th is crazy. If you are buying new then I say hands down the GC. It is a tricked out 25th

I got a 25th and I had the chance to play the Y2D a couple of time.

As slav mentioned, the 25th got something in the wood combination that make it a GREAT guitar and very comfortable one.

But try them both if you can and let your ears and heart decide.

I would go for the 25th without thinking too much

If you have the 25, then go and play a Y2D and decide...

If you´re going for one of these babes, then you sholuld try that the new one covers a different ground that the guitars you already have...

I just played a Y2D for the first time. Wow! That's a really cool guitar with an awesome neck. They have a used one at my local GC and it was hard to let go of it. My money is ear-marked for a new JP or else I would have bought it.

I have no input for the 25th, lacking the opportunity to try one out. Though everytime I go to a shop and play a Y2D it's killer everytime! Especially since you already have a 25th, if the Y2D plays and sounds the part, it has my vote!

I see that your signature includes a 25th Anniversary already. Is this in anticipation, or do you already have one? If it's in anticipation, then, given the fact that you don't have a Y2D on there in anticipation as well, that tells me that you're more keen on the 25th Anniversary to begin with. If you already have a 25th Anniversary, would you be considering another one of the same guitar to be permanently set up with an alternate tuning?

Although I do like Steve Morse's sound pretty well, as do I like the tones that others are getting with his signature EBMM guitar models, I've typically tried to stay away from poplar-bodied guitars. I've done a few side-by-sides where there's one model made of poplar, and another of a different tone wood, and the "other" wood guitar has always come out on top. That's just me...for example, I don't personally like the "Tweed" mode on Mesa's Mark V/Road King/Roadster amplifiers, but I'm sure there are some folks out there that proudly call that tone their own.

I had a reflex and I only can say I like my Y2d much better to me it plays better And sounds better. And the purple sunset is the best finish ever.

Thank you everyone for your replies. YES... I do currently own a Red quilt 25th Anni with trem & Flame maple neck (neck plate reads Custom Made). To be perfectly honest, I don't remember playing a smoother , easier playing guitar.
At some point in time, in the near future, I want to get my hands on a Y2D Flame top non-trem. Then I could take my time & do a side-by-side to see which one would reign my "Main" go to guitar. In the meantime it's good to get feedback from forum members...it helps the decision process
