OK, just for kicks, if you had to choose just one of these cabs, which would it be?

Ampeg SVT-410HE
SWR 4X10T (Workingman's)
GK 410SBX

Obviously these are lower-end cabs for the more financially challenged folks. If I could afford a full Eden stack, I'd certainly go out and get one.

I've heard good things from The Ampeg 410 universe. Mesa's 4x10 cabs are just as affordable aren't they?

I think it all depends on what kind of sound you want and what kind of head you've got, although out of the three the GK would be my preference...

I think all three of those are very comparable cabs. It would probably be tough to tell them apart with a blindfold on. Make sure you check out the new Hartke VX series before you buy any of those though. I've been very impressed with the sounds I've heard coming from them.

I'd be plugging in my Bongo, through a GK 700RB-II into it, just so you know. I was very inpressed with the setup I played through at the GC I bought my Bongo from, which was I believe the GK400RB-II and a GK410SBX. I've had my eye on a double stack of 410SBX's for a while, but recently have read some not so pleasant reviews of GK cabs in general so now I'm having second thoughts. It would be nice to be able to use the speakon connectors out of the 700RB-II. So I guess I'm asking what is my best bang for the buck....specifically between $500-$800?

At the high end SWR Goliath list at 899 and can probably be picked up in the 650-700 range new. Come in 4 and 8 ohm varieties and rocks! SWR also has a 4x12 which I am currently saving to get... it rules!!!!!

The Ampeg, is a very close 2nd behind it sonicly but had a grittier sound (I love clean bass).

I haven't tried that GK but the ones that I have have lacked something when you use them by themselves (They are great in a 2 cab situtation like a 4x10 with a 15 or 18 configuration).

Then there is the Workingman. I have had bad luck with the WM series. I have been playing SWR for the last 10 years and the WMs are missing that certain magic. Yes a jump of a couple 100 from a WM to a Goliath is big - but, then again, the investment in a 4x10 cab is also pretty big. With the WM cabs I've had some wiring and vibration problems (one of my supports vibrated loose).
I would save and get a pro cab - the Ampeg, Goliath and even the new Eden (which is just incredible compared with last year's model - but also a bit more pricey).

I'm an SWR diehard, but I'd choose the Ampeg over the Workingmans any day. In my opinion the Workingmans cabs aren't anywhere near the same class as the SWR pro series gear.

I would say GK, but if you're buying from Guitar Center, ask them about the GK 410RBH. Theyre blowing them out for $400. Cheap than the 410SBX.

I 'd say Ampeg, but if you only want one cab, get the 410HLF, because the 410 is not really a stand-alone cab, although it sounds very nice anyway.
After my job, I'm going to buy a 410HE, an SVT-3PRO and after a while, another 410HE. Do you guys think this would work well?

this might sound stupid, but i wouldnt want the ampeg because so many people i know have them. i want to go for a different sound, so i would probably go for a gk, because i have not seen anyone around here with a gk, i barely see famous musicians with gk. but i also like swr a lot too, but they are so darn expensive.

Maybe that's because they sound good.

Everytime someone plays a MusicMan through an Ampeg, a cute kitten dies.

lol :D

I've also been thinking, what about an EBS or Aguilar 2 x 12" through an SVT-3PRO? (that's one of the best affordable heads for me)
