While I'm only commenting on the finishes here, I am interested in seeing what John's changes are ultimately going to be. Hopefully, before long, I'll be able to actually hold one in my hands. See it and play it in person. See where it goes from there.
In this case, I really do think the blue enhances the slightly modded body. Ever think some guitars just look better in certain colors? For me, the blue-burst kicks this one up.
Agree with you Dave...sometimes it really is best to hold of jusdgement until yuo've had a good chance to take it in in private first and then tell the world how you feel!
Anyway....its a grower for a lot of people I'm sure....just like new car models make the previous model look like crap!
I guess the blue and grey look more rock and roll/modern than the vintage look and everyone was diggin' the chrome pickup covers that go really well with that look. In fact chrome dipped humbuckers would be a goor option - not like the Sitrucci pics put just chrome dipped plastic covers! I think the pickups and the whole deal look great in the colours........imagine a lime green/dargie finish in this!
Very nice Knox - I too am a fan of the blue burst (although still partial to the caramel myself). I can't wait till this thing gets final approval, whatever it ends up like and I can try one out! At home I've only been playing my JP and my PRS CU24 (mahogony body, maple top, mahogony neck). This new proto looks to be right in between (just basing on woods and pickups generally). Can't wait! (although, I have too! )
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I was messing around the other night and came up with some different colors also. Looks like a good place to chime in.
Seems to me that there's no color this thing doesn't look good in!
'camo-burst'
THe maple Luke is coming too. I think the maple will be an option rather than a whole new giutar line if I read BP correctly.
And Pacific Blue Burst still for me. Love that finish and want to have the Axis, JP6 and Luke all sitting there, lined up on stands in the same gobsmackingly gorgeous colour!
