HI,
I've got an Axis SS w/piezo and premium flame top.
I've always been intrigued by the sport w/MM90's (and silent circuitry)

I've got a handle on a used black sparkle-Ash body and MM90's (for around $600US)

Any opinions? I'm hoping the ash sounds significantly different than the basswood. Does it? In what way? Does the price seem reasonable?

Also, are the bodies typicaly one piece swamp ash or do they vary? And, finally, when were they discontinued?

Any other nuggets of knowledge are appreciated.
Thanks

I love the Axis Sport with MM90s - I've got both a Sport and Super Sport with MM90s, and they sound substantially different than an Axis with humbuckers - Tele on Steriods is how I typically describe them, and I think that's appropriate... I don't know how many pieces the bodies are, but I can tell you that the Swamp Ash body can vary substantially in weight - my lightest and heaviest Axes are Sports with the Swamp Ash body... Personally, I've never been disappointed by the tone of MM90s - I think you'll like 'em too, Jim!

Dude, what kind of shape is it in? $600 is a great price for a Black Sparkle Axis Sport with MM90's. Maple neck? I don't think that you'll regret it. Only my AL has MM90's, but I'd get those pickups again if there were in the right instrument.

Good luck, Glenn |B)
