Well, from what I remember reading at the Mike Portnoy forum, the meet and greets on the most recent tour have been really poorly organized and lightyears away from the awesomeness they used to be. HOWEVER, I don't know if that's the case for the current tour!
I believe, after the concert is over (again, how they used to do it), a representative from the band will lead the group of platinum members backstage where you get a photo with the 5 guys and you get a few minutes to personally chat with each of them. That's about it, but it's still worth it just to talk to them and joke around and see that they really are just a couple of guys!
Again, I've never been on a Dream Theater meet and greet. For this tour, it might be before the show, it might be after. The meeting might be brutally short or it might be amazingly long

Also the other day i pre-ordered the new "greatest hit.... and 21 other pretty cool songs" album with a signed cd booklet, that's almost as good

When i met DT at their concert the M&G was before the show.
You line up for the group photo, line up again to get stuff signed by each member, talk to each dude for a few seconds and thats pretty much it, i had a blast meeting the guys in jan.

yep pretty much it, was the same way for me. except i spoke to JP about the EBMM's for a little bit..
kind of held up the line.

lol nice, i held up the line talking about johns next solo release, eb guitars.... he thanked me for wearing his JP shirt, i thought that was pretty neat
