I'm no flats guy...

I've really tried, a lot of players I respect (both big pro names and guys here like Jack, Mark D and others) swear by flats, but as of right now I am again without a bass with flats. The Blue Dawn Bongo did well with flats, but now I want to use it at a gig and flats and me just aren't a live combination.

So it's time for yet another pack of #2836...

oh yes yes yes indeedy!! No flats in my home, not now, not ever.
If I want a low muffled tone I'll just turn up the VLE (vintage loudspeaker emulator) all the way up on my Mark Bass and I am there. No need for flats. EB Super Slinky Lime green packets of #2836 all the way for me

Thing is, I really want to like flats, and as I noticed a year or two ago when I gave flats a spin on the DD that went abroad, my playing changes dramatically with flats.
Not so much technique, but the note choices, which is kind of weird/wonderful
So that's why I had to post this, again admitting defeat and retreating to the comfort zone that is nickel round would.

Cowpilot video ...... maybe on the D*de Pit? I believe I said "tone like a freight train coming through"? I was amazed at the tone you got with flats. So when this project came up , I said to myself " Here is a great place for flats!" and d*mn! I was very right about that!!! I guess there is something to said for an open mind!!
