Dan McPherson?

I'd say keep working with him.

Customer Service is the way to go.

The forum, eh, we can't do much for you, I'm afraid.

I'm perhaps not understanding the problem, then.

You're saying SHIPPING back and forth is going to cost you 400 dollars?

Is it being hand carried by Dick Cheney?

It shouldn't cost more than $35 - $40 to ship a bass in a case UPS ground insured from anywhere in the US.

In Case:

UPS: $264 round trip

Fedex: $ 311 round trip

No joke.

I can ask again... but I dont know if Dan will still honor this......

I've shipped about, oh, a million basses and have NEVER been charged that much.

You have to pack it yourself, which is a pain but so what? Get a box big enough for the case and with room to add some padding, then add all the padding you can.

DO NOT take it to a privately owned place with UPS/Fedex services. They are charging you more for the 'convenience'.

Go to a UPS or Fedex place, owned by the company.

One way shipping, as Larry said, and with insurance, is around 25-40 dollars.

This I think was the problem...... I'll get a quote today..... any idea whether this will still be honored under warranty?

I just shipped a bass, insured for $1700, from Georgia to Nebraska for $22 using FedEx Ground.

And, honestly, that's the first time I've EVER seen UPS with a better quote than FedEx. Even if the quotes are about 10x what they should be....

Uh, whoever quoted you is obviously on CRACK! I just shipped a 1969 Hammond A100 from Prescott, Arizona to New Bern, North Carolina for less than $500.

And that thing was massive! Easily the size of about 20 basses in the case.

On the other hand, do not go to a fedex or UPS store for their packing services. I recently sent out my cab and UPS wanted $50 just to pack it. I went to the private place and the packing service was only $18. Also, if you go to a quality private place it will not cost you anymore and they will give you great customer service. When I shipped my SR5 to Aragorn I didn't have a proper box. The whole thing shipped and packed was only $45, I believe $35 of that was the shipping, which is what I normally expect.

Of course, before you do anything to ship, it should be repeated to call Customer Service for an RA number and all of that fun stuff.
