My Music Man case has started to crack. It's just been in my room, and hasn't left for ages and its cracked, and I havn't sat on it, or played frisbee with it. That little strip of material that prevents the case opening completely has also broken off (glue problems). I'm slightly annoyed/confused. Anyone else with this problem?

how old is it? Did you buy it new or second hand? is the guitar still under warranty? and the most important question, have you contacted your dealer or customer service first before posting?

Colin's right, this forum isn't the place to start airing complaints before you call customer service or talk to your dealer. "My case just spontaneously destructed" doesn't sound likely to me anyway. I've never heard or a case self-destructing through zero use, and as I've a whole whack of EBMM cases, I have substantial experience with them. It's molded plastic - how could it possibly "just crack"? Do you have a little brother or a dog?

Mine cracked, also, but I tried to fit my wife into it. I heard 'Turn it down, please" for the last time. I had everything but her right foot in the damn thing.

You should buy a MM Bongo, Sterling or Sting Ray...bigger case....packs 'em in real nice...LOL

Again, call Customer Service about your issue. That is what they get paid for, this is not the place to air a grievance if you know what I mean.

Yeah... cases typically don't "just crack"... especially tthe molded plastic... I have a Coffin Case that was kicked by someone and cracked... and then someone thought it was empty and threw it... cracked again... Guitar was still ok...

My point being... unless you're storing it in extreme temperatures, or you're abusing it, or the Boogie Man is doing something to your case should not be cracking.

Not that we're trying to RIP you but when you post something like this you need to be sure that you've taken the proper steps to handle this and not make the forum your soapbox to complain...

Try calling either your EBMM Dealer where you got it or call EBMM Customer Service and for the love of GOD try to be polite...

woah woah woah, no I didn't mean it like this at all. In response to a previous question yes it is one of the Music Man hardcases. I'd also like to say that I've always been really enthusiastic towards all the products made by Music Man. This wasn't supposed to be a negative bashing at all, I was just in a bad mood at the time of posting as a result of working late the night before; apologies for that. I'd also like to defend myself by saying I have never needed to contact someone before from Ernie Ball, and I havn't been on the forum for ages, so just made a thread, as I've never had to do anything else. I bought the case brand new about a year and a half ago to two years ago, and have gigged with it maybe three or for times in total (all gigs over a year ago). It's been a great case both in terms of protection and aesthetics. I've always looked after my equipment and been proud of it (as you should be) and at the time I posted I was a little disgruntled by the situation, especially considering the case cost 104 quid.

Anyway, I was going to see if anyone else had similar problems (in terms of cracking or glue related issues and then go from there)

I'd just like to reinforce the fact this thread wasn't supposed to be a bashing of MM products at all, and I apologise for it coming across that way, even though the concept that I'm speaking of could sound that way.

When not playing guitar I leave the guitar in its case, standing upright against a wall, sometimes on its side.

Another thing that I kind of asked was if other people have cracks, how do stop the cracks from developing any further.

Sorry this thread is slightly dis jointed

and for the love of GOD try to be polite...
on that note everything I have posted has been pretty much polite as possible, give a few things when I first joined the forum, as I said before I'm very sorry about coming across in a negative way.

DOnt worry Just remember if you have a problem Ive got people standing by to help you or tell you to sod off! THe reason why I dont like the forum to be the first stop is that it gets out of control, instead of funny informative entertaing posts i it turns in to a bitch fest, kind of like a allergy forum! Also some people read one guys problem and then he must have the same..... get my drift.

I didnt think you were too bad I just need you guys to know that there is a great mechanism in place.

Now why aren't you here more?

Silo,

is your case near a heating register or anything like that? Direct sunlight for extended periods of time?

that's about the only thing I could see damaging the case if it's not being 'hit'.

all the best with sorting it out though.

If the crack is not too serious or complex, you can drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it from progressing.

I used the same trick when I played drums, and my cymbals started to develop cracks. They tended to start from the outside perimeter and work their way in towards the bell.

One quick hit with a drill bit, and no more crack.

I just got some help from EB customer service with my case. I'm still waitng to hear back from SKB as they claim their cases have a lifetime warrantee to the original owner.

Here's an update: The guys ears must have been ringing at SKB. He just called me back. Since it's an SKB made EBMM case, I was told any claims should be done thru EB. They (SKB) will warrantee a case to the original owner. So as long as you have your original sales proof of purchase, it should be easy to get your case replaced thru EB. They will settle the defective/broken case with SKB.

Did they replace the case or tell you how to fix it. I have a SKB MM case with this problem and have never bothered fixing it. Just curious!

haha it's nice to know that people understand what I was talking about now, I think that's a lesson for us all ;).

Well the reason I was away from the forum was from the lack of internet at my new house for uni. Oh dear the forum is dragging me in again.

My recepit is back in Guernsey at the moment just before I moved to England for uni. I have a small inkling I chucked the receipt with the thought that the case would never have a problem haha!
