At a wild guess, I'd say it's because it wouldn't sell well enough to justify the cost of development and production.

I mean, we love Bongos around here because we have seen the light... but the market as a whole just doesnt understand.

Have you considered going used? A Bongo sold on ebay three days ago for 700.

the bongo is not a big enough seller. The world is in the dark.

I was going to say something about heathens and infidels, but I decided "just don't get it" would be more PC.

:D
Here's the perverse thing about it. On some levels, I LIKE the fact that more people don't "get" the Bongo. It's almost as though there's this secret that most of the rest of the world isn't in on.

Now, I'm sure that the company doesn't like that -- although I'm sure they're resigned to the fact that the Bongo will never be their best seller. I look at the Bongo like an an "image maker" for EBMM ... a model that establishes them as willing to take chances and be on the cutting edge.

Actually, the Bongo is a reasonably priced bass. One of the amazing things about EBMM is that they can make an instrument in USA that is priced to go head to head with imports that brag to have high quality. Making a cheaper version would do nothing but cheapen the image as average folks that can’t tell the difference will just get them confused.

Heck – why not go the other direction and release upscale versions of it? Mahogany, ebony, inlays, the new tuning keys, not sure what else.

I actually just found out that a 4H Bongo is the same exact price as a 4H Stingray. When I ordered my Roasted Bongo, originally I was going to get a Roasted Stingray and was already quoted a price from Bass Central. I then decided a Roasted Bongo would look killer with my Dargies Delight II Bongo and ordered the Roasted Bongo instead. When I called to see what the difference in price would be, I was told both the Stingray and the Bongo in the 4 H configuration have the same list price.

But yeah, if price is an issue, look for a good used one on here, ebay or some other place.

I've listened to you people for a while talk about how great your Bongos are. I'm telling you, it's really starting to get under my skin and I'm fed up with hearing about these things. The body shape is funny, they have too many knobs, and everyone who has one acts like some kind of elitist!! So I only have one question....

Where can I get one? Lava Pearl please?

Bongos were causing too much damage in Texas so you can't get one there any longer. :D

I love my Bongo so much, that I am considering selling the sweet 94 SR5 I got recently in a trade, and my custom 4 string J style bass as both just sound inferior to the Bongo.

Even the guitarist in my band tells me how much more he loves the Bongo than my other basses now!!
