I was finding difficult to test some EBMM guitars here cuz they simply almost doesn't exist here due to price and dealer inconsistence.

In other thread I posted that I'm interested in one EVH (blue faded / now green)

So asking here and comparing reviews between Axis and Steve Morse I'm now in a big dilema.

Which one to buy ?
I can't find them here, so neither test them to see If they will serve me well.

The good thing is that I found a friend of a friend that got a Steve Morse, and he was able to let me test the guitar.
Yesterday I have a test on it.

Awesome neck. Awesome !!!!!! So comfortably.
Makes me think that my Ibanez Jem neck is a piece of trash. But just different profiles.
Very good sound and a buch of sustaaaaaiiiiinnnnnnnnn.

I just was a little confused about the crazy switches combinations.

Wish that I could try an Axis !!!!!!!

Hard to compare if you play lots of clean. Morse just has way more tones. Some people aren't crazy about all the toggles and their odd location.

If you like the morse, but the switches drive you crazy, and alternative would be to wait for the new model to come out. 1 lever, 5 positions, a little more conventional, I hope they sell a bunch of them. Reviews should start appearing in the next few months.

Possibly one or 2 might be available to play for those attending the open house, but I don't wanna jinx it.

one of my bandmates plays a morse. i had to rewire the switches for him so that the lever funtions normally. the 3 way toggle still adds or solos the neck single coil. and...the 2 way toggle still adds the bridge hummer to the lever......but the middle lever position now turns on the bridge single coil...& the forward lever position turns on the neck hummer. now it is more natural to most strat players.
i've gotten so use to the standard wiring...that when i olay his...even though it's more in series.....i get confused. they say it's all what your use to.......
whatever switching you use....once you get use to having such tone versitility from the 4 pickups......it's really hard to use anything else. plus the morse pickups are awesome......

The Morse is very versatile guitar. If the switches put you off, you can always change it. But I'd bet once you started playing it you'd get use to it. I love the neck and the switch that kicks in the bridge pickup. I also have a EVH so I'm used to it being there. I find the switch on the axis uncomfortable as a result. Be different.

I love that switch so much I added it to my HSH silos. It rules! At least for me any way. YMMV

I was a bit worried with that switch not being on the Y2D. But the Y2D that Steve used on live 8 had one so I guess it's here to stay.

That's the impression I got. But after seeing Steve having one on his Y2D at Live 8 it got me thinking. I have the Deep Purple show on my computer and I keep watching just for the guitar. The guitar he uses on the EB web video has a switch but not on the photo

i know the prototype he was using on the last east coast smb/dregs tour definitely had a black filler plug where the toggle would be. i played it .
from a distance ...it can easily be mistaken for a switch.......
