hi folks,
we had a discussion on the german johnpetrucci.de forum about his piezo sound. someone posted a link to the jp.com site where you find this picture of johns fishman aura pedal.

Aur.jpg

i took a look at the fishman site and thought, i should try out this pedal. so i got a used one off from ebay.

what can i say?!?! i´m very impressed about the sound of this pedal. you have 16 presets, which means 16 guitars with different mics, via USB you can upload any kind of guitar you want to - as long as it listed on the aura-gallary.

i did a few samples of the pedal. the first pattern is the JP BFR piezo only, pattern 2-6 are different presets set to 100% effect and the last pattern is a blend of 60% piezo signal plus 40% aura effect (switched between two guitars while i did the recording - you´ll hear the difference).
fishman recommends a blend of 65% original and 35% effect if you are using the pedal in a live situation.

forget to mention the signal chain during the recording:
JP BFR, Aura Pedal, Palmer active DI, M-Audio Delta 1010LT, Samplitude 10 (DAW) - no EQ, no compression, only a limiter in the master sections, that´s all.

so here is the soundfile, enjoy:

no problem, it´s quiet easy. just tell here how much a it would cost to buy a tayler, an ovation, a martin and a gibson acoustic guitar besides the EBMMs you wanna buy....or just buy a small pedal for about $200 and get good images of all these guitars.
so there will be enough money left, to get her a new pair of shoes. ;)

I too have the Fishman Aura pedal. I like what it does to my piezo sound from my EBMM guitars!

while there are fav. pedals like this that will "add" to the piezo. The beauty of EBMM system is that it sounds superb direct. Best straight in.

I posted a thread about this a year or so ago: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/45157-hey-piezo-guys-you-have-try.html

Been completely sold on the fishman aura pedal for my JP's piezo ever since I tried it.

Here's a great tip: If you find one of the less popular pre aura-16 pedals (like the orchestra or concert) used you can sometimes grab them for 50 or 60 bucks, then upgrade them via the hidden usb port to an aura 16, that's what I did.

that´s what i did as well. i got a used "jumbo" version. didn´t need to buy any upgrade, just hooked it up to the USB and started the aura-gallary and it work right away.

hey joe have u tried the nylon guitar images with the piezo??? for classical guitar type sounds..

yes, i tried it, but it didn´t sound that good. not soundwise - the presetsounds are great, but you still hear that the guitar has steel strings on. sounds a bit like a mixup of a classical and a dreadnut.
i´m sure, if you hook up a nylon guitar to it, it will sound very good.
