Just put them on and am wondering why I waited so long. Took off the flatwound set I had been trying to get use to and replaced them with the best strings I have ever put my hands on! These have such a warm beautiful tone and I have the action set lower than I have with any previous string set. I am blown away. You must give them a try if you have not all ready. My stingray is all smiles!:)

Cool. How do they compare in terms of string tension?

Better than the flatwounds I took off. So good, that I kept playing after the band left. I really like the feel of the coating.:)

Good, and please continue playing and counting hours, so You could tell us how much longer it will last than the regulars (aprox.)! :D

I'm not kidding, I'm serious! :)

i put a set of coated rounds on my fretless and i must say i like the feel of the coating too.. its not silicone slippery like other coated strings but it feels kind of dry yet not sticky under your fingers.

Thanks for the update and please keep us updated on your experience with the strings (longevity, tone, etc)

Hard to describe. Tone is more even and the feeling is kinda sexy for lack of a better description. Makes me want to keep playin way longer than usual. You got to try them!

I hate buying strings just for the sake of it. I am poor. Plus my bass is brand new and doesn't even come close to needing strings!

That is why there are choices. We each can find what rings our bell and EBMM offers it.

I know what you mean. I wouldn't change strings just to try a set out. But when you need to, give these coated ones a try.

What kind of fretless did you put the coated strings on?

Cheers

Do you know how they compare to other coated strings, like Elixer (too slippery for me) or DR coated strings (I've been using Black Beauties for years)?

Same with me! Definitely don't like Elixirs "touch", DR are great - classical feel under fingers and great life...DDario EXL has shortest life of all coated strings in my experience....

Iam curious what kind of coat EB uses for new strings...

I had loads of fun today when I wanted to buy a set at my favorite shop... lets just say it involved the EBMM website, a lengthy call to the distributor, no price and an ETA of "at least two month"

Check out a company named guitarmorgue. They fixed me right up after GC didn't carry super slinkys. I received them in 3 days along with some other Ernie Ball goodies. I was so impressed I called them and thanked them personally and they sent me a free Musicman t-shirt. Can't beat that!

Set lower than the flats? Tension less than or greater than the flats?
