Ok, so I went into my friends studio for a little recording session Friday night which ended up going until 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. The heart of his bass sound at the studio just happens to be an Ernie Ball Musicman HD500. I took in my SR4 and Sterling and ended up using the Sterling on everything but one track. For my tracks we ended up running three signals with one coming from the HD500, a direct signal ran through a Summit Audio preamp and Tube Leveler and another through my MXR M80 (for grit) with the level boosted by a Trident preamp. He records to Cubase and 1 inch tape. The results were great, i'll post some audio samples as soon as he e-mails them to me.He also has some pretty good house gear including a Sonor drum kit, Mike Soldano Yamaha T100, Ampeg VT-120 and a Les Paul. The good thing that came out of it is that I was offered use of the HD500 any time I want it! As of right now he only charges $20 an hour.If anyone here is in need of recording in the South O.C. area(Laguna Beach,Dana Point,San Clemente) PM me and i'll hook you up..
