On TB, I just scored this minty 1996 honeyburst Sterling lined fretless with great neck figuring. Great price, too. Has the recessed plate on the rear -- which was only done for a few years, as I understand it.

What an ugly neck! Look at all those weird stains! Gross!!!

:p

That looks like the toothless brother of the Sterling I had and never should have sold. Congratualtions! :D

This minty specimen arrived yesterday. Eye-popping excellent condition. Looks essentially new, yet its 14 years old. I forgot how handy and playable the Sterling form factor is. There is a lot of bark in such a small dog (came with round wounds).

The set-up needed a lot of work. The truss rod had no tension loaded on it at all, while the saddles were set nearly flat onto the bridge. Got her back to factory specs, installed some EB Flat Group 3's -- and she is better tamed and mwah's nicely.

I think I briefly owned this bass back around '03-'04. I remember it being a great bass with a beautiful neck (confirmed by your pictures). Great score!
