Ok, so yesterday was interesting, but I'm out for a fresh start today, so here goes.

Serial no. E35969 - seeking any info available please. I was told that it was a custom order that fell through - is it possible to confirm this just for my own curiosity? Other than that, just a birthday would be awesome! Thanks in advance to whoever can help.

Now, a question: When I first saw this hanging in the music shop I didn't like it. I'd always wanted a stingray, but initially the colour didn't appeal and the pickguard was too much for me... or so I thought! Now I think it's the most beautiful bass in the world, don't you?!?!

Has this happened to any of you guys?

Carbon Blue Pearl with matching headstock and abalone pickguard

thats a great lookin bass man ...

as far as a "custom order" goes: all EB instruments can be considered"custom ordered" ... they only make a guitar/bass when an order is placed.

i really, really like the combination u got there dude!

Wow. That's twisting my head.

One of the factors (not the biggest one) in my decision to leave my Carvin behind and get a Bongo is the Carvin's pimp factor. The guy who originally ordered it went full-boat...gold hardware, abalone block inlays, quilt headstock overlay, quilt top, 5-piece neck, etc. etc.

I love the way it plays and sounds, but the appearance has always been a bit much for me to take. Sound is everything, so I lived with it.

But the photos of your bass are giving me second thoughts about abalone...that's one stunning piece of work! I particularly like the contrast between the wild-ass abalone and the understated carbon-blue body.

Damn. I think I'm subconsciously configuring my fretless Bongo, and I don't even have the fretted one yet! ;)

I bet it was a custom order - that matching headstock costs extra.

BTW, that is one beautiful combination of colors.

Very nice bass....The abaolne p/g goes with a lot of colors...Again, very nice!

You didn't want that at first sight? You are very lucky I wasn't in the same store.

That bass totally rocks

IMHO

Here's the DOB

THAT is how blue should look on a bass!

Yep, carbon blue is the best blue I've ever seen (that's why it's my bongos color, with moonstone pg).

MNF

The blue? It's classic. It's not an exciting color, but it's a very dignified and perfect color. That pickguard, OTOH, is holymodal MF'n tripsville. And yet, the two so very different aesthetics cohabit so well on one ax. Hootathunk it?

bah, cropped picture?! Not fair Moondog! But they both sure are nice... and so's the bass! :D

Hey, wow, thanks guys, now I've got that warm and fuzzy feeling - faith restored.

Thanks Aziah!
