I bought a used Music Man Silhouette back in '95 or so, my first electric guitar. I have picked up an American-made Peavey Wolfgang Special goldtop since then, a Fender Classic 50's Strat in sunburst, and a 1982 Fender Strat hardtail. Despite the undeniable quality behind the Music Man, with the direction I am going, I need to purchase a Tele.

First, since I bought it used, I would like to know a bit about the guitar. The serial # is 89243. It has a birdseye maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, and a 6 bolt neck. There is a floating trem system, which strings through, and locks only behind the nut (not a Floyd Rose). It's a black finish, with a black 3-ply pickguard, and the pickup configuration is HSH. Does anyone know anything else?

It is in good to fair condition. This was my main electric guitar for years before I picked up my Wolfgang, so it got some use. From the front, the guitar looks good. There are some dings, but only a couple, extremely small ones have actually gone through the finish. The sides and back have a couple more dings, which have gone through the finish, but are not visible to anyone while you are playing the instrument.

There are two small dings that look like hyphen's on the back of the neck (where the birdseye is) between the second and third frets, and it looks as though someone stuck something to the back of the headstock (a holder for an allen wrench possibly?) which has sense been removed, and marked the finish in the process.

The instrument is strung with 10's, intonnated to be tuned down a 1/2 step, and plays like a dream. In fact, it might even play slightly better than my Wolfgang, I just prefer the sound, and overall feel of the Wolfie. The only noticable buzz I hear at all is on the 3rd string, 11th fret, and it doesn't interfere with plugged in paying in the slightest.

This instrument would look great with a white pearl pickguard, and knobs and caps, with white face pickups. I ordered a white pearl pickguard, and white knobs and caps in at one time when I thought about changing pickups, but I never changed pickups, and now I've decided I will most likely sell it. If I do, I will search for the pickguard and knobs and caps and if I find them, include then with the guitar.

I have seen Silhouettes go for $400-$500 used on ebay in good - great shape, so I am not quite sure what to ask for this puppy. I have yet to seen one sell online with the floating trem system mine has. Any help, or interest is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

You guys better swap info fast, this post will probably get cancelled...sorry but it's Jon's policy. New members who use the boards to post the sale of their guitars (like the very first post) is a no-no!

Ahh, sorry, delete then if you must. I wasn't trying to use this to sell it per se, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything more about my guitar, since I have yet to see one like it.

I haven't posted on here cuz to be honest, I haven't played the guitar in over a year, and not a lot in the two years prior to that, so the music man forum wasn't a 'destination' for me, as wolfgang forums (www.vhforums) and strat forums (www.fender-talk.com) have been.

I scanned over the FAQ, but I obviously missed this rule. I read the first one, that said you can sell items on here, but there must have been an addendum to that since then.

I guess that is kind of the problem selling your first guitar online: You don't have a rating on ebay, so buyers will be cautious, and rules like this one this board.

Raz..It aint my policy. I have no policy. I read this post when it was first posted, and I have no problem with it. The posts I do have a problem with are when somebody tries to use this forum as a selling place.

I will let 1st timers post stuff for sale when ebay lets us talk guitars on their website.

Well has does anyone know a year, or anything else?

Well, I do want to get a Tele, and I don't play this thing much--though many tell me NOT to do this, lol.

I can't get the pics up tonight, sorry. I will get the pictures up, and onto a website so I can link to them here.

It's the direction my songwriting, and band is going...Plus, where I work I am a Fender dealer, so I get a good price on equipment I am a dealer for.

I'll have pics up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Maybe someone could let me know what I should ask for it after that, if I decide to sell.

Ok, here are some pics:

What looks like a big scratch on the lower left is not:

This is where you can see the dings, mostly on the right side there. I keep the backplate off for access, but the backplate, and the screws, are in its gig gag:

You can barely see the two scratches that look like hyphens in this pic, but it's a good pic the of birdseye:

This is the locking system, located behind the nut:

This is the floating bridge:

A view of the dings I spoke of on the back side, the only real visible ones from any kind of distance:

Hey jon, Why did EB decide to do away with the 6 bolts? you'd figure it would be even more sturdy than the 5 bolts right? obviously it was done for a reason, so enlighten me please :D

God bless,

The five bolt neck improves access to the dusty frets by offering a smoother, graduated heal under your palm. I doubt that the six bolt neck is substantially more stable than the five bolt - I've never had either move on me...
