I have an Ernie Ball Music Man EVH guitar, but there is no signature on the headstock. How many of these were made? Does anybody else have one of these guitars? These are not to be confused with the Axis Export guitars that are made overseas. Mine was built in July of 1995, and the serial number is 87432. This was built along side the other EVH guitars, and I am wondering what the real story is. I have heard many different versions of why this was. Please drop me a line if you have any info. Thanks, Jim.

Hey Jim! I don't have the answers to your Q's, but you're definitely in the right place... I know ratter has a no sig. EVH transition model, and our self-professed EVH-freakazoid bmenary can probably help you out too! :D

Yes indeedy...EBMM told me that it's from the period after Eddie left, but before they had renamed them the Axis. So I'll call it a "transition model". :D All I know is, I got a sweet guitar (I prefer the EVH neck and pickup switch placement to the Axis equivalents) with a killer top, and nary a scratch on it, all for the price of a used Axis! I can live without the signature! Feed me more of these please... :D

Hey Rattler, What is your serial number? I know Barry and I showed him my no. sig. EVH. He is a cool guy. This was the first one he had seen. When I first saw this one, they also had a red one without a signature. Both had the Floyd Rose on them.

I don't have the serial number handy...but I think it was in the 87000's. Mine is a hardtail(!), red.

For the period mid 95 to 96 we did infact make a few Guitars without Eddie's name on it. We
fulfilled a few orders before we made the changes that is now the Axis. We do not know
how many left the factory this way although we
know it was not a lot.

Historically these are cool guitars because it marks a period in the evolution of one of Ernie Ball Musicmans most popular models.
