Installing a Strap Lock

Hi,
I just bought an acoustic electric guitar but it doesnt have a strap lock near the fretboard. Is that very risky to install a straplock by myself other than just use a screwdriver, or I should bring to GC and ask them to install it for me?

Will there be any chance of cracking while installing it?
