I heard that flats should always be strung through the bridge, not the body due to the big bend when routed up and over the saddle.

I have my Cobalt's strung through the body for the past 10 months with no issues.

(and they still sound great)

Cobalt's are all I use now

On a recent episode of "Dave's world of fun stuff" (Youtube)

He said don't run flats through the body. First time I ever heard that.

Similar to Lord Bongo, I've never had a problem myself going thru-body, but generally believe in being cautious, so I typically don't string flats thru the body (on basses that present that as an option).
