First post in the forum, so apologies if anything is out of order.:D

I want to install some EB strap locks and have a question about which bit to use. In the EB online video the tech recommends using a 7/64" bit to drill into the guitar to accommodate the strap lock screws.

What if you live in an area where imperial-sized bits are not available? The closest metric bits are 2.5 and 3mm, whereas the diameter of a 7/64" bit is 2.8.

It's better to drill a bit smaller, right? Has anyone else encountered this? Thank you for your feedback!:)

As long as there isn't a huge size difference with the screws, it shouldn't really make a difference if you are replacing the existing strap buttons.

I've put them on 6 basses. No problem just screwing it in. Just go slow

Same here. I’ve got them on all my basses. No drilling needed. Just take care not to over tighten them or you will either break the thread or worst case the head off the screw (both have happened to me at one point or another)
Or...... sometimes using the original, the screw you just took out works providing it fits the new button
