So I'm watching "Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny" tonight, and JB and Kyle walk into a Guitar Center. Ben Stiller then proceeds to ask for a price check on a box of Ernie Ball Amp Casters. So was that intentional product placement? If so, are the amp casters not selling well? ;)

I still think it's cool whenever I see or hear Ernie Ball mentioned on TV. It's fun to say "Hey! I know those guys!" :D

Speaking of product placement, Ernie Ball is all over Guitar Hero II. Ernie Ball Strings is one of the "Sponsors", and I think the "bassist" is playing a Sterling.

Brian Handled the Pick of destiny. They usually want a lot of dough and we dont pay..but those guys wanted our stuff

Brian also handled the GUitar Hero deal. It was a paid sponsorship that has worked out better than any magazine ad.

Brian is a busy boy

We are having a blast right now and are super excited that our brand has placement in both pick of destiny and guitar hero 2.

I just saw the pick of destiny, I couldn't believe Ben Stiller's hair do. I really did get a great feeling when he said Ernie Ball in such a major motion picture. Did you guys see the red EB sticker in the closet when describing what the pick of destiny is?

We are really excited to be associated with the Guitar Hero franchise. For you video game gurus, Activision (makers of the Tony Hawk series) recently acquired the development rights to do Guitar Hero 3. We just sealed the deal to be the exclusive string sponsor of the game which will be launched right before the holiday season in fall of 07'. The game will be available on the PS2, PS3, XBOX 360, and Wii!

For now I am still trying to get as good as Casey. He is the man at video games.

First off, how hilarious was the character that Ben Stiller portrayed?

talk about dead on....everyone who's ever played either knows that guy or is that guy

As per Keith's advice, I took my buddy to the Guitar Center on Tropicana the other day and noticed a beautiful double-sided EBMM advertisement hanging from the ceiling, right in the center of the guitar section. It's a great ad which features all of the EBMM signature artists. Kudos to you marketing folks, it's a real eye catcher

Prominently displayed at this GC were the following:

Black Luke
Rosewood Axis
Cherryburst Axis
Dark Red Sub1

The Luke in black is one sexy beast

Man, after just reading what I wrote I cannot believe that I actually followed Keith's advice

I'm really starting to like this store, the guys are pretty cool although they do lack some EBMM knowledge......don't worry I fill them in on all sorts of delicious tidbits:D

As for my buddy, he's still on the fence about which EBMM he wants he inquired about a Morse but I think he's still leaning towards a HSS Silo.

Darn - I missed that. I guess I'll have to watch it again. :D

The Guitar Hero thing never looked interesting to me. That's the game that comes with the toy guitar controller right? I guess I'll take another look given the sponsorship. :) I do have an xbox 360 and a really big TV collecting dust. Maybe if you get in tight with them you can get them to change the shape of the guitar to an Axis or an AL. :p

Gibson has guitar rights and is in litigation with them....Imagine that Gibson in litigation...

I like Guitar Hero. Always have when it was a knoami game in japan 10 years ago. It is the closest and easiest way to experience the feeling of execution and teamwork and nirvana that comes with playing. It is my feeling that many people will move on to the real thing. If they dont they are thinkin about the guitar and talking about it. I cant tell you hopw many people that I barely know stop me and say "I am an endorsee!

That's pretty cool. Unfortunately, I think I lot of people (like me) write it off at first glance as nothing more than a silly kid's toy due to the guitar controller. It brings back memories of those little toy plastic guitars with nylon strings that don't tune. ;)

So I can see kids being interested, but if they want to hook the older folks, I think they've got a marketing problem. :(

Although....now that I think about it, when GH 3 comes out for the Wii, it might make a bigger splash with the older crowd. I know a lot of adults that are hooked on the Wii because of it's physically interactive nature. GH 3 might be a natural fit there.

Given that my division makes all the game processors, anything that sells additional games is a good thing for both of our companies. :)

If you look closely, they are using EB staps too :D
