I saw that. I wonder how they got those minus the pickguards, even if they were dealers that seems hard to do.

Rest in peace Jeff - this made me sad.
It's time I spoke to my wife about my
basses . . . should I meet an untimely
demise :(

Those look like pre-EBs. Maybe the late owner of the twins had them custom ordered? Perhaps MusicMan was more open to custom orders back then?

What's the little piece of metal on the back of the headstock, on the right of the mechanics

I dunno. They don't look like twins. One is a string through body, and the other is not. One seams to have a different neck plate. Looks like Aussi Mark might be able to tell. I just don't think these are twinns, and I don't think they were custom order. I think they are unrelated basses picked up at different time kinda like we get ours. Write her for the serial #'s.

Yes. What is it made for ?

It let you detune to D (or whatever) without having to turn the peg to get it right. Once you set it up, you just flip the switch - when you're done - flip it back and it goes back to E.

thanks for the lesson.

It seems the lever could be disturbing when playing on the first fret. But stell a good thing. Does EB sell it as an option ?

Not sure - don't think so.

They are called hipshot dtuners and are make/model specific.

Since the lever points upwards, there's no way it interferes with your left hand. It's really a convienient, fast way to detune and retune your E string.

I had one of those on an old jazz bass for years; it worked just as advertised.
