Hello all! Zuma from Los Angeles here. This is my first post.

I currently own a sweet black Bongo but I may not be keeping it. Why you may ask?! Well, it's one of those "what was I thinking?" stories. Back in 1990 or so when I was about 16 my bass was stolen from my music locker at school. My mom, being the awesome person that she is, managed to complete my funds for a brand spankin' new Stingray from Guitar Center Hollywood. Honestly, I had no plans to buy a particular bass. I just played all the ones that interested me and that was the best one. It served me well throughout the remainder of high school and more.

One of the only pics I have (no digital cameras and black and white to boot):

Fast forward to the mid to late 90's (it's all fuzzy now!) and the band I was in got signed and published. We had been together for ages and I really believed we were going to "make it." I suppose I should have just put the Stingray in the closet but instead I decided that I was going to be rich and soon, I could buy 10 Stingrays if I wanted. What an idiot!

Now, I'm very sentimental about it and I really want it back. I sold it to a friend for nothing and he graciously said he would sell it back to me if I ever wanted it back. Problem is, I can't get a hold of him now! Back to the Bongo, I also got it for a steal and my plan was to say, "Hey man, want to trade?"

If anybody knows a Mike Pollock from Monrovia let me know!

Moondog's Stingray is killing me but I have no cash:

That is almost my dream Stingray (2 band EQ, old bridge) along with a '77 with a white pickup (oh, and an SR5, and a .....................)

Here is the Bongo

Zuma, your Duran Duran videos are awesome. I'm a big John Taylor and Duran Duran fan and the videos have helped me tremendously.

I really hope you find your Stingray!!

Hey thanks Narendra3! I really appreciate that. I'm a little behind with my videos but I'll get to adding more soon.

oddjob - I thought about that comment after the fact. What I meant to say was I wish the HH Bongos also had the back pickup in the Stingray spot. I know that would be more like a Warwick $$ but I would love to hear the result with the Bongo preamp and all.

I guess I am a 1 pickup kind of guy. I have just always been in love with the basic Stingray sound from Bernard Edwards to Louis Johnson to Nick Beggs to (shudder) Flea.

And just to clarify...Mike Pollock (or Pollack) was from Monrovia, CA - east of Pasadena/Sierra Madre.

My old Stingray had a nice Birdseye neck, rosewood fretboard, and was white/white pickguard, 3-band EQ. I don't think I ever wrote the serial down.
