Just a dumb observation. Taylor reminds me of EBMM, 2 high-quality American guitar makers. And, please don't ban me for this, they have similar hair cuts

But, I don't think Bob Taylor spends any time with 'Knuckleheads' on his forums!

I've met Bob Taylor a few different times (spent three days at the factory when I had a Custom Shop dred built) and, while both guys are amazing people, they are apples and oranges. :)

Jack's comparison is more accurate I'd say. Bill Collings is a character. :D

For a family run, hands on owner operation, slightly less known than the big names, but providing quality above and beyond the more manageable price points and having reputable customer service and a friendly forum.

I'd vote

i believe there is only one big poppa, although Bill Collings does have a nice Hot Rod collection from what I've heard. BP do you think he has something that can take the factory 4-speed SS in the quarter mile? :) nah ;)

Who's the current Amp Big Poppa? Mesa/Boogie's Randall Smith? Soldano (he seems like he has a great sense of humor and awesome CS)?

I've only met one Big Poppa - I don't think there could ever be anyone else like him.

Roger that.

Now I do feel that there's room in this world for some Life-Sized Uncles or perhaps a Trial-Size Cousin or two....but only one BP.

I'll through my two cents in. I've been an electrical engineer for almost 12 years now, and about a year ago I started working on my MBA. I've grown to really admire BP for the way he runs his business and the commitment he has made to customer service and quality products. But, in all the things I've seen or read here on the form nothing really shined a light on the true character of BP like the offer he extended to Rob to help him with his son's illness. I see him in a completely different way now. If I was proud to play my excellent Music Man guitar before, now I'm just really proud to have an instrument that associates me with this great company and the fine people who make it up. BP I think it's a real privledge that we get to interact with you here on the forum. Thanks for setting such a great example for the rest of us.

+1 on that MN246.

I was just inquiring on an amp company that might have a similar style/way of being that BP has. I've already found the end all and be all for guitars and guitar accesories. I want a similar experience w/ an amp company now, that's all. If BP stared mfg. Music Man amps again, my question would be answered and my search over.
