I've always been a little odd (well a combination actually, I'm little and I'm odd), but I've noticed something...

Looking through the many threads showing the new models being developed, or one-offs (new Luke, new JP, 20th Silo, BP's Special RW Silo, Wonderdog's KOA topped 20th etc) has made me realise that I'm not a huge fan of the maple caps.

I've just bought an ASS, but to be honest, although I love the way it plays and sounds, I prefer the look of my two Sports. Maybe it's the pickgard, or maybe it's the more regular look to the wood?

The two that really made me think 'Wow' were BP's Rosewood 20th and Wonderdog's KOA top 20th.

Hmm. I guess I'm just boring?

Oh well, I'll have to wait for the JimmyB sig model then :D

I think it's more the 'curly wurly' tops than anything. I just looked at a trans blue AL on the instrument builder. That's the type of thing that I'm more drawn to.

Mind you, I still want to buy just about everything I see!!!:p

I can take or leave 'em. Sometimes they're great- I love the flame top on my Y2D for example. But I love the opaque colours as well.

The beauty part.....options. You have the option to get what YOU want. How cool is that? Different strokes for different folks man....the cool part is...you are still playing a great EBMM axe.

i agree, i also prefer solid colors to see through and quilt and flamed tops. but, thats not to say you EVH and Axis owners don't get my attention. those are one of the few guitars that look good to me with quilt and flame tops

Hey jimmy, it's not just you... I tend to prefer "simpler" grains in my guitars as well, though the flame on my Super Sport MM90 is just gorgeous!! Still, the Ash grain on my transluscent Sports and the simple Rosewood top on my Axis work for me - heck, even my PRS is in an opaque finish, so I must really prefer the simpler look...
