Is it original this pre-EB pickup?

I've never seen a SR's PU (EB or pre-EB) without exposed poles, but a friend told me it is original (he have a pre-EB Cutlass II with similar PUs). To me, on a StingRay, it's very strange...

I don't think it is original.

I don't think it's original either. Maybe someone just put an aftermarket cover on the original pickup, but that seems unlikely.

No it is NOT original, it's a replacement. Your friend is wrong.

However, your friends' Cutlass II, with it's later style non-exposed poles would be original as they were also like that on the 81-later Sabre.

yes, Cutlass II and Sabre are pretty common with that kind of PU.

How can you use "common" and "Cutlass II" in one sentence... I've never managed to see one (except for pics) and have only seen one Sabre in... 25 years!

Yes, the Cutlass II it's very rare! (BTW I prefer Sabre and SR than Cutlass I & II )
