To get a Luke for about 1100 $ NEW?

I'm asking this because I live in the Netherlands, and Lukes are here about 2800$
As my uncle is in the Belgian army, and often goes to the U.S., i'm thinking of letting him take a Luke to Holland.
Because he's in the army, he shops tax free and doesn't have to pay import-taxes, so that saves me a lot of $$

I'm only interested in a NEW one, and it doesn't have to got a piezo of matching headstock.

Is approx. 1100$ a fair price? I just really don't know what the street-prices are for Lukes in the U.S.

...but that sounds like a price you can get them for. I've seen a few for less, but most for more.
