92_EBMM.jpg

I bought this bass used in '92 from Corner music in Nashville, TN and it is a '92.
I cannot say enough about its durability. I just had a fret job and a new nut because I did not realize it, but I had played through the original nut into the neck. I now play in an Americana type band, stringing my bass with flats and occasionaly spanking around the neck area like an upright. The bridge position humbucker growls and allows me to be aggressive without unwanted noises. I would like to have the funds to buy a fretless, pau ferro EB MM to further my goal of sounding more like an upright without having to lug mine around plus I am rather attached to electric bass. I have been looking into after market necks and that is when the guy who sold me my bass told me that no dot inlays were never an option on EB MM basses and that I got a mistake or something on my hands. Just curious if anyone has seen a neck like mine before?
Thanks,

I don't recall seeing a fretted bass without dots or markers.

You might have a bass that was originally unlined fretted and was converted.

Or it might be something unique.

Where are the side dots?

I had a '79 Stingray that was a refretted unlined fretless. No dots on the fingerboard.

It had the side dots right on the frets instead of inbetween. It bothered me so I had the dots covered up and moved to the regular position.

On an unlined EB fretless Stingray, I'm not sure where the dots would normally be. Anyone?

Are the side dots aligned with the frets, or in between the frets? If it's the former, it's a fretless neck that has been fretted. The latter, fuk nose.

The dots are where the frets should be on an unlined fretless.

It could also have started life as a lined fretless. No dots on those, either.

serials and side dots and size apology

Sorry about Gigantor, I resized him. Thanks all the feedback. Below are hopefully decent size pics displaying the side dots and serial info.
Thanks all,
-Greg

I guess it could have started out as a lined fretless.
If anyone can discern anything from the pics I posted I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

Okay, that made me snicker.

Start a new thread with "Serial Number/DOB Please" as the title then post your serial number (on the bridge, I'm sure you know) and ask for details about the bass when it left the factory.

Someone, unless summer NAMM steals them all away next week, will be along on Monday to answer the question and then we'll all know what it was when it was built.

Thank you all. I just got back into town from 4 gigs in 3 days to find all this great advice for me. I just woke and ingested my Ramen noodles now I will start that new thread. Thanks again,
