The SR4 bridge designs did evolve over the years. The Sterling followed suit with the same SR4 bridge designs (as from 1993 when the Sterling was introduced). The SR4 and Sterling are basically the same as each other today.

String Spacing

I think the string spacing at the Bridge on the Sterling is a little tighter than on the SR4, although I presume that may have more to do with the individual saddles than the actual bridge itself.

I don't think that is true. Sterlings are tighter at the nut, but the same at the bridge as the SR4.
