I think my title says it all. I was looking at a uses ass and I started wondering if the ass' with the maple top have a different tone then the ones with out? Is that top for tone and looks or just looks?

It's not just the top that's different- the Axis/ASS is basswood with a maple cap. The Sports were Ash.

I didn't know that either. I knew the Sport was ash, but not the ASS MM90 maple top.

Yup, confirmed it from the website. Interesting.

I have the MM90 Piezo (ash). It sounds wonderful. Last night, I played at another show where I spot lighted the ASS. It's amazing how many positive comments I get from the appearance and tone of the guitar. Certainly a lot more than my other brand guitars.:cool:
