Raz,

To bypass the amp sim on the V-amp, just hold the tuner and tap buttons together. I do it sometimes and it sounds good.

OK I never tried to bupass the amps, only the cabs...thanks!

If I were you, I'd avoid the POD (not exactly reknowned for its effects) and get a TC Electronics G-Major and a midi pedal of your choice and run it in the loop for all your modulating and timing effects, as well as a compressor, noise reducer, octaver and a few other things that will sound good there... Then I'd buy a good wah and a good booster/overdrive for in front of the amp and slap 'em on a pedal board with the midi pedal and be off to the races... Why buy a POD just to cripple the best part and settle for the effects? I don't think many would argue that the G-Major's effects are superior, and it's not going to cost you much if any more than the POD, I don't think...

unfortunatly it does cost more :( i looked into it, looks pretty cool, but it is a bit more unfrotunatly, espically by the time i add the pedal in

JD....I gotta disagree with you bro. The effect quality as well as the models as a whole in the new XT Pod's are dominant. They sound awesome, and the SHortbard FBV is built like a tizzank. Click my "clips" links for tones that I got thru the Pod XT...

...so first, I'm told that my 5150 sounds like a**.

Then, I'm told the same about my Sonic "Crapimizer".

Nobody likes wireless, so my Sennheiser obviously has no fans here.

Now, my G-Major is inferior?

That's it, I'm quitting...I'm selling everything but my Furman and my ART 31 band EQ, and buying a little Gorilla amp. :p

The Furman and the ART are going with me to hang out in the corner and cry. :D

Man I wish I knew more before I purchased my Behringer V Amp-2.0...I mean its not that I dislike it, cause I don't, I love it (for recording its fantastic)...but now that I plan on gigging, things may be different...what I need is an effects system with multiple pedals incorporated into the system, not amp and speaker combinations, but pedal effects...anyone have any suggestions? Sorry, I don't mean to hi-jack!

Ok, now I know for a FACT you can bypass amp and speaker models on the V-Amp 2. :p

Obviously I was joking, Warg...I always go by the saying "to each their own". I'm happy with what I've got, and so are you, and so is OC and PS, even though they're mean to my gear sometimes. :p LOL!

Just like we talked about in the Ohio thread, Warg...your choice is your right, and so on. That take doesn't stop at politics...thanks for the boost to the ego, dude. I'll close that "Sell an Item" IE window now. :D

Let me stick up for you by saying 5150's are killer!!! I had one, wish I had never sold it. But I was young and stupid and didn't know how to use it properly, so it was too loud for the small club gigs I was playing. Wish I had it now. Smokin' amp. So fear not, those who oppose are only scared of it's flesh ripping power... ROCK ON!!!

CLARIFICATION: As I recall, Darrell, I said that Apache amp was so authentic sounding that it made the 5150 sound like ass...I never said the 5150 was a bad amp, just didn't sound "classic EVH" enough to my ear (then again, the EVH guitar doesn't sound like the Frankenstein to me either). And remember, you're the one who pointed that amp out to us! :p

Anyhoo....regarding dedicated FX units, ClericKevin, I find my Boss GT-6 most cool, and you can shut the amp sims off in that too. If I was gigging, I'd find this to be a much better solution than lugging around a pile of pedals, adapters, cables, etc., plus the durability is high and the price is definitely right esp. if bought used. Works great for practicing at home, into headphones/PC speakers and recording direct into PC via SPDIF and/or analog, too.

Another option to investigate if you're into rack gear is Lexicon. Their amp/distortion sims in their multi-FX are surpassed by lots of other modelers these days, but the effects alone offer a lot of shimmer for the buck. Ditto on the aforementioned TC Electronics stuff if you just want great effects only.

Warg, I knew you were joking, dude...it's all good. :)

KEI...I mean, Melissa, you're a menace. :p

PS, I'm glad that you can recall what was said...sorry that I misquoted you. I was too busy crying to understand what was going on. It was late, it was the only place open, and there was blood everywhere...wait...where was I going with this? :D

Okay, I found out how to bypass the amp models on the original Pod Pro. Set the amp model to tube pre-amp, turn the gain, channel volume, and output knob's all the way down, set the eq knob's to 12 o'clock. Turn the output and channel volume knob's up until you get the volume you want. Gotta turn the cab model off also....

After a year and a half of owning this thing, I just learned how to do it. The sound still seems colored by the Pod's tube pre-amp setting, but it's not bad.
