Hi to all.

I had bought used JP7 (without piezo version) on January 2015.Guitar plays and sound great, but after changing few string sets, and adjusting it to my needs I notice that tremolo is slightly pushed down(toward the floor in playing position)

After close checking tremolo edges where screws are mounted I saw on both holes metal is wear off.
Its nothing drastic,but it visable.

I could possibly live with those damages, but I am interested to know is there any way of purchasing new JP7(non piezo) tremolo without sending my guitar to Music Man factory.

I am poor guy from Bosnia and shipping cost would bury me alive.I could probably buy a new guitar with that sum(which don`t have actually).

I took bank credit at the time, since that was the only possible way for me to pruche used JP7 in a first place.
Best regards to all.

Sucks to hear that man; but what an example of so many cautionary tales at once - buying on credit, buying an older guitar used, buying an import guitar - I'm sure customer service can help you out; in fact, they may be the ONLY ones that can help you out; or maybe a Premier Dealer.

Good luck. I know how a little niggling thing like that can totally ruin the experience of an otherwise amazing piece of gear. In fact, I just spent $100 to ship my Kemper back in for repair because the squarish USB port died. I almost NEVER used it, but just the fact that there was a tiny feature that didn't work drove me absolutely nuts. I feel your pain.

I imagine EBMM CS would want you to send in your old trem. I don't suspect they'd want their hardware just out there, orphaned in the wild.

Not sure where you are going with this comment, but it could be taken the wrong way/totally inappropriate. "Niggling (annoying like a little black baby" according to the Urban dictionary. Not ok in my book.

First time I've ever heard the source of that word, but I wouldn't consider Urban Dictionary a definitive source of word entomology... Or shall someone be accused of racism for using the word niggardly?

First time I've seen the word nazi's here at the forum. Sad...

As far as i've always know the dictionary definition is "to cause slight but persistent annoyance, discomfort, or anxiety." I don't believe there was any other intent. The problem with Urban Dictionary is anyone can put an entry in.

niggle - definition of niggle in English from the Oxford dictionary

Origin
Early 17th century (in the sense 'do in an ineffectual way'): apparently of Scandinavian origin; compare with Norwegian nigla. Current senses date from the late 18th century.

These are not tales. Its simple true.I`m not afraid to tell people I live very poorly. Its reallity so there is no reason to hide it.

This. To the best of my knowledge they will replace a damaged part but you send he damaged one back. Get in touch with Customer Service.
That`s a big problem to me actually.JP7 is the only guitar I have, and I use it on daily basis, recordings, giving classes etc.
If the wear is hardly visible then it could just be fettled (smoothed, filed, polished) - it's normal to get some wear and this type of maintenance will save you a whole lot of money

Well, its noticeable by bare eyes. Both holes making slight circular shape where were they are wear off.

It think I will try that first.I will contact one our good luthiers to see if it can get polished.

Is it just chrome plating wearing off? If so, it's fine. The actual knife edge itself could be reshaped/sharpened by a luthier if necessary. If you can get your hands on a digital camera with a good macro zoom, take the best photos you can and send them to Customer Service. They'll tell you what your options are.

Urban Dictionary is not a good source of information. I'm positive this is the furthest thing from an attempt of being racist. It's not how we roll on the forum. But always a good reminder to be aware of our words no matter where we're at

Haha I'm sorry, I didn't intend to cause a race riot lol. Why UD has become the go-to instead of Oxford, Webster, or even Google is beyond me.

In any case, OP, I'm not suggesting there's anything fictional about your case - just that there's so many things that together equal a problematic circumstance.

I have a friend who has a nice house, a $50k truck, a $15k motorcycle, a boatload of credit card bills, three kids, and loves to live the high life and have nice things - all on a Army E6 salary. The tenant in her house destroyed thousands of dollars worth of stuff and now she can't afford to get her house repaired, so she has to sell it after only owning it for a couple years. I was explaining to her mom that is she wasn't constantly buying so much expensive stuff on credit - that $4k home-repair bill, while not the most satisfying way of throwing away $4k, would not have been an issue if she had even a modest savings and wasn't dumping a thousand buck a month into brand new vehicles. It's not judgment, it's just true. Google Dave Ramsey. I'll digress.

Back on topic - OP, do the the fettled edges cause any functional problems that you can notice? Because if it's just something that you noticed but has literally zero impact on tone, playability, or function, I'd say just roll with it. Also, might even look into having the guy you bought it from maybe kick back a few bucks to help you out with shipping/replacement.

Cheers!

I think its chrome plating mostly.I will be glad is the problem is easy as that to solve. My luthier not respond to phone call,I`ll wait to get in contact with him as soon as possible.

I just change new strings so I can`t take a shot at the moment. But I guess it can wait 2 months, its not too urgent thing.

Things are not that simple my friend. We all in Bosnia are at edge of survival literally. Those money that you talking, about your friend debts is fairy tale to 80% of population here if not more.

I personally have no kids,or possess anything valuable as your friend, and never wanted any of those things. All I love is playing, composing, recording, producing music.

I wanted to own JP7 for decade know, and when I found it is selling for a half price.it was my life opportunity to own something valuable that I could get only in my dreams.

It was a big sacrifice but I accept it.If you want judging me thats ok,I do not care much about that things.

Now back to topic.

Edges cause no functional problem at all. But if there is no need of replacing new one I personally want to secure it if I can make it last longer, sharpened it as suggested.

The guy that sold me JP7,is in the same life conditions as I so I don`t think he could do that. That`s why he sold it in a first place.

We here mostly have one good instrument for a lifetime(if we are lucky enough to find a good deal) and stick to it.If we want to buy a new one,we must sell the one we own.

Kind regards.
