Or does it really sound this bad? It sounds weak (significantly weaker than my Les Paul), and has a horribly thin, biting tone.. Not meaty at all. I love the guitar, but can't stand playing it due to the tone. When I compare the Crunchlab EQ characteristics on the Dimarzio website, it shows predominantly bass, then mids, then treble. My guitar sounds more the opposite, searing treble primarily. I wondered if there was a problem with the tapping switch? Like, does it stay tapped? It doesn't seem very noisy, though.

So what gives? I just got it so I don't want to swap out a pickup just yet, or open the whole "what pickups sound best with basswood" can of worms.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Sounds like there's something wrong, it should be much fuller. Rather than guess, I'd suggest you drop the customer service folks a line and get their advice, they'll help get you sorted out. (Or, if your guitar is under warranty, take it to your dealer.)

Thanks beej. I just send an email to CS. I'll follow up in this thread how this plays out, in case anyone is interested.
