If it's not fake, it's been extensively modified. If the guy put those bird inlays in, I'd be a little concerned about the quality of the work, and the Shield on the first fret looks a little dodgy, too, though the pics aren't great. Pickups are definitely wrong. They look like Bill Lawrence knockoffs, definitely not the DiMarzios the D would indicate. The bridge doesn't look right.
I wouldn't touch the thing personally. I see legit Koa JP100Ds on GC in the $499 range pretty regularly.
What we have here, once you take the inlays off, is a good condition SBMM Koa JP without the original pickups. Too high a price? Maybe, but you can always argue that the pickups lower the price and make them a reasonable offer.
Interesting. Seems like those stickers would get in the way and peel up after a while. Ah well, still think it's a bit overpriced, especially without the original pickups. Although if they are Bill Lawrence I wouldn't mind hearing it. I've got XL500s in a couple of guitars and love them.
