Isn't it great when you get turned onto a new band?

I've been working away from home for a couple of weeks in Liverpool, and a guy in the office is a huge Prog Rock fan - both old and new. He's also a big fan of Dream Theater.
Anyway he was running past me a few of his other favs such as Frost and Porcupine Tree- and he lent me some of their DVD's / Cd's.

I have to say that there is a lot about Porcupine Tree that I like - no huge guitar Pyrotechnics but nice Gilmour - ish playing, great vocals - and what a drummer !!!!

As I was watching a DVD last night I noticed that the Bass player was playing a Bongo 4 HH.

So, like I said in the title - nice when someone turns you onto a new band. (Last time it happened was when I was turned onto Sonny Landreth many years ago - now one of my favorite guitar players)

oh yeah I see from their website that they are endorsed by Ernie Ball too!

Definitely a cool band Spud ... I stumbled on to them a year back or so. Their drummer is a monster.

If you're looking for some excellent Prog rock, check out Canada's Dream Aria. Last time I looked they were holding down the # 1 spot on MySpace's Global World progressive unsigned artists charts.

They just released their 3rd CD and are often compared to Night Wish.
