Does anyone know the whereabouts of a Silhouette, (not a Special), rosewood fretboard, piezo, preferably hardtail in either Buttercream or Envy Green? I'd also consider one the the "rare, sparkly" colors too, but the piezo and rosewood FB are a must have.

I can't do a search from the EB "Build an instrument" page since those colors don't exist as an option.

Ever since I got the Sil-Spec, I haven't been able to put it down. At this point if I find something in one of the above combinations, I might have to sell the Petrucci. After playing the Silo, picking up the JP just feels weird, I have to readjust to the neck and I keep bumping into the toggle switch. I figure I could just about have the Petrucci, fret and piezo wise with a Silhouette, so that's the only reason I'm considering the switch, I just love the playability of the Silo's.

If nothing turns up I'll keep the Petrucci and wait for the possibility of a 20th Anniversary model Silhouette that NorM keeps hoping for. I'd hate to get rid of the Petrucci, but I don't want to try and talk my wife into another new purchase right now with the Morse Y2D on the way.

thanks,
fred

There's quite a bit of difference between those two necks...I wonder if that does anything to ones playing...I mean I play like 4 or 5 different neck profiles...hmm maybe that's why I suck :D

I think they have specialist for this sort of thing, but for the $ I'd be giving them I could get more stuff.

The Silo is a little thicker....however if you utilize the vibrato bar on the JP then you're sorely going to miss it with the Silo....I have a Silo and 3 JPs currently...and I use the Silo for slightly less gonzo stuff and to be able to tune down...it's a versatile, but different beast...

Oh yeah, there is a big difference.

It feels like I have to relearn everything after playing the Silo for a few hours and then grab the Petrucci.

After having Silo though, it's the one I go to now when I first grab one to play. Something about it is just so damn comfortable and familiar.

I'd really like to keep the Petrucci and wait for the Silhouette purchase, but you guys as well as any know the feeling... :D Something about an add*****n maybe? Sorry Koogs, if I'm going to get another guitar I can't be sending you all my nickels... ;)

If something with those specs happens to show up, I might not be able to help myself.

OC you're right, I would definitely miss the JP for some things. I guess I'm secretly hoping nothing shows up and I'll just have to wait to get one and keep them all...

Nah, she's cool about my "problems". ;) She's one of the good 'uns, I think I'll keep her.

Pete,
You're right, but it's the damn *waiting* that's so tough. :D Normally I'm a very patient man, but when it comes to this sort of thing, I just can't help myself.

If Gas-X would just provide relief for this type of G.A.S. it might be easier!!

to be honest I don't find them much different....I switch tunings (all 3 JP's are tuned differently), from 6's to 7's to the Silo and don't have an issue really....the only difference between the silo and the jp's tome is the knnife switch in lieu of the 3 way....theyre both in a similar spot...

SC,
Thanks, but I'll pass on the Candy Red.

If I can't find one in Envy Green, Buttercream or one of the very desirable "rare sparkly" ;) colors, I'll wait until next years offering of the limited edition color and see what else might happen.

thanks,
fred

Yeah, that'll work for about 30 minutes or so...

I guess I need to ask since I really don't know. Can you still order the 2005 Limited Edition Buttercream model? This might be a no brainer, if I can still order one that is...

I think there is a DG Maple White Ice hardtail piezo in DC. I am stoked about the y2d Morse. If it weren't for the floyd, the lack of piezo would be causing me stress. I played my pet for 2 months straight but with my piezo trem silo out, the pet never sees the light of day. I find the piezo switch getting in the way when I put my right hand on the fret board. I love piezo volume knob only (no switch) on the silos. Ever tried a volume swell on a pet. I hope there is a 20th anniv silo. Maybe even Darrell would buy a new guitar then. :p

How is the prosess for designing the new y2d Morse coming along?

Waiting for a new axe is not fun. What did I do waiting for my Rad Red JP? Played my others. You still have some great guitars, so you can afford to "wait" more so than the poor guy who doesn't have a spare......hehehhehe.......but it still sucks.
